|billybedford||Has anyone gone from the trektop NX for a jku to a hardtop? wondering if all of the metal brackets have to come off, or can some/all of them stay on with the hardtop on?|

BTW, I just received my replacement top from Bestop the other day due to having pinholes in mine & they didn't request for me to send the other one back. Great customer service IMO.....don't understand why people put Bestop down
Oh, and I fixed the 'clip' problem I was having. The clips kept coming undone & when one of them did it the first time, it scared the crap out of me! I thought for sure something hit the Jeep cause I didn't know what it was....just heard something hitting metal. Took me another week to figure out it was the clips coming loose when it did it again. Anyway, I bought some more of the webbing strap material at JoAnn's, removed the clip & ran the webbing through the hole of the plastic buckle that the clip was in & then ran it through the holes where the hardtop bolts go, around the top of the bar & then through the other buckle. I ended up having to add some velcro to the 2 pieces of webbing to hold them together, but so far, so good

|billybedford||mine does that on my jku and I believe it's normal. I just ordered a jammock for my jeep which acts as a shade for the front of the jeep when I have my trektop open in front, and It raises up like that when you drive as well. was considering a spiderwebshade but decided on the jammock instead.|

Thanks for all your help, Billy & everyone else. As far as those flaps go that have the velcro on them, the guy I spoke to at Bestop said that they just recently added them & they are to protect the roll bar cover when you have the windows off....you velcro that flap to the underneath of the roof.
Now I have another question.....when driving around 50 mph & higher, the inside of the roof raises up high & is very tight.....is that normal? I've never had a soft top before, so I wasn't sure if they all do that or not. Just hoping that I have this thing installed right.

|billybedford||just make sure they will pay to send old one back, they should be able to email you a return address label.|

|billybedford||looks like a pinhole in top right if photo also?|
|06-21-2013 02:36 PM|
|4X4Lady||Hope this shows the pinhole better. I contacted Bestop about it & they said I would have to contact the place I purchased it from, so I'm doing that now. It is indeed along the stitching. Anyone know if there's a way to fix it? I really don't want to have to send the top back & put the hardtop back on while waiting for a replacement|

|billybedford||and getting the back sides on, you need to probably have rear zippers undone to get both sides clipped around bottom|
|06-21-2013 01:06 PM|
not sure on the fabric with Velcro maybe someone who doesn't have an unlimited can chime in. does it wrap around roll bar?
can we see a pic of pinhole from further away?
|06-21-2013 01:02 PM|
|billybedford||looks like you got it, just make sure you tuck the little bit of canvas that flares out at bottom of back window underneath the zipper area of side window before you clip side window clip, or u may get a little water funneled into back of jeep. got three days of sunshine comin, so I'm runnin without my rear sides and window for first time.|

|4X4Lady||Ok, I got one side of the back part in, but still can't get the passenger side back window part into the rail....hoping it just needs to be heated up more. But while I was out trying to get that done, I noticed a few more things....one being a small pinhole in the roof itself It's right above the door rail area to the back of it where some stitching is. Should I be concerned with this? Is it going to get worse & leak? Notice first picture. Also, on both side of the roof, there's a piece of fabric with velcro on it that I didn't notice before....where do these go? They span from the back near the window to up where I found the pinhole. Right now, they are just hanging overtop the safety bar (roll bar) & dangling on top of it. Are they supposed to be tucked on the other side of the bar & along the side windows? Does this mean I have to take all the windows out to redo it? One more question.....I noticed when I have the rear seat upright, that the headrests actually 'dent' the back window....how do I keep it from doing that without removing the headrests?|

|billybedford||back window clip first then side window. tailgate bar kinda rolls toward you a half turn to put it in.|

Ok, after freaking out because I thought that the zipper pull on the passenger side was missing (didn't realize that the driver's side had the pull on the window & the passenger side is on the roof, lol), I finally got my windows installed Thank goodness it's a pretty hot day & actually, the zippers weren't as bad as I thought they would be But now I have a few more questions (see pics below):
1. When attaching the plastic 'lips' underneath the tailgate bar (I'm assuming that's where they go?), does the back window one go in first & then the side window one? (see first & second pics).
2. Does it look like my tailgate bar is in properly? (see 3rd & 4th pics).
3. This isn't a question, but it looks like I got it on just in time (see last pic).
Please tell me that this DOES get easier with time! Now I'm just hoping for no leaks when we have storms the next 4-5-6-7 days!

|billybedford||yes mine is clipped to the metal part of the support bar, kinda hard to get it clipped. in my second pic u should be able to see the fabric. should be able to download bestop instructions from their website, or even amazon might have the instructions available to read.|

Mark, I'm confused about the tailgate bar....do you have any close-up pics you can post for me on how it's supposed to go? I haven't started that part of the install yet, but need to do it either today or tomorrow as we have storms on the horizon this weekend & all next week.
Shady, yes mine is a JK....thanks for your help.
|06-21-2013 08:19 AM|
mine are just wrapped around the roll bar in front of the sound bar and pulled tight. everything is sitting good and tight
edit* after paying lil more attention. it looks like yours is JK, not sure if its really much diff though

|billybedford||feel free to pm me when u continue install, mine is an unlimited but I'll help if I can|
|06-20-2013 10:17 PM|
|billybedford||clip goes into hole in support bar, can't really tell how yours are installed. the middle bar the aforementioned staps are to hold down likes to pop up off of its spot on the door surround on mine. been wanting to tie it in place with para cord or something.|

You waited all day! We feel your pain.
Their video is good but did blow by how to install those straps as well as any info on the tailgate bar. That took me way too long to figure out.
RE tailgate bar
..C-channel of bar accepts dowel of bottom of window.
...Get it in position with both ends of bar in brackets
...C-channel facing skyward and rubber roundish gasket trim facing you
...grab near ends of assembly and roll the whole thing like 45 degrees towards you and downward.
Should satisfyingly roll into proper position.
Thanks 2resa for that pic.
Good luck tomorrow with rest of your install. The top is hot!

Quick Trektop NX Installation Question
I just received my Trektop NX today (didn't come until 6:30 tonight when UPS is usually here by 11:00a.m.....just my luck!), anyway, I have some questions regarding the install. The most confusing part is these straps that go into the center support bar where the speakers are. Do I have them attached right? Somewhere along the line, I lost my instructions, but I've been following the the Bestop video, pausing it, doing a step, coming back to the video, etc. & it's been a HUGE help, except for this part with the straps. I hope these pictures show how I have it attached ok. I hooked the small strap to the strap that is attached to the roof part & then hooked the clip inside the hole, but it just doesn't seem like it's right. The fabric part is also loose....is it supposed to be like this? Can someone take a picture of how you have yours attached? I would greatly appreciate it. So far, I love the top, but then again, I haven't even attempted to install the windows yet since they haven't been out in the sun enough.
