|popa||OK, it seems that my steering pump's dead. I have found on different sites in US, some remanufactured power steering pumps, made by Cardone. Do you have any information about them? Is it worthy (they are extremely cheap, compared to a Mopar one, for instance)?|

Anybody could help with an answer concerning the steering fluid that I could use (insted of Mopar)? Any experiences with that?

|popa||What kind of steering fluid should I use? A fellow jeeper adviced me to use only the Mopar flkuid. I went to the dealer, who told me that a 1liter bottle costs around 50$ Aren't there any equivalences that I could use? And how much fluid will I need fro a complete change?|

It's only when turning and it is not the kind of noise that comes from a bearing or so. It is like it is struggling to turn the wheels. And, when it is making this noise, the assisting power decreases (I need to pull harder the steering wheel).
I think that I will go to a garrage, drain completely the steering fluid and replace it with a new one. If it will have the same simptoms, I will change the pump (although it will cost a little).

Steering pump noise
After some mud-playing, my steering pum makes a "buzzing" noise. I searched the forum, but I couldn't find a relevant answer.
After the mud playing (a very sticky mud, of at least 30 cm deep) I washed all the underside of my 2000 TJ, hoping that this was beecause of the clogged joints etc. I checked the level of the steering fluid, and I added a little bit (it was between the low and the full sign). This didn't help, either. The noise appears when steering in place or at slow turns. Also, it seems that the steering is hardder, when buzzing. It is the same noise that I could hear before, when the wheels were sttered at maximum turn. I checked the belt and seems to be OK. Anyway, visually, I could see any slipping of the belt when steering on place. What could it be? Should I start thinking of changing the steering pump (I hope not - I just bought the car and I already have a lot of things to change - oils, filters, some U-joints, some oil gaskets - on the front and rear axles, brake pads etc, and my budget is really tight). Or I might solve it cheaper?
Many thanks, in advance.
