hipshot33 if the folks at the dealership treat you honorably don't begrudge them a couple hundred dollar profit on a $35000 sale... they have to make a living just like you do ...
( I am not a dealership employee)

Actually when I add another $500 for my military rebate it comes to 5%, but that doesn't cost the dealer anything. My understanding is that using the Affiliate Program Chrysler gives the dealer a 2% rebate so that is basically their profit in my case... am I doing my math right?
Sound right.

J33P4M3 you see the EP (employee price) and the FFP (friends/family price)? I got my dealer to put me dead in the middle of those two prices when buying my 10A Rubicon. No haggling, no joining any clubs. Ask them if they can meet you in the middle of those two prices. If not, call Crown Jeep in Chattanooga and give them the price sheet and see what they'll do.

That sucks... i wish we got some discounts working at a sheriff's office. unforunately no discounts when it comes to vehicles

BostonStrong77 What's worse is that I always throw away those letters because they're trying to get my to buy stuff like extra insurance, etc. oh well. I made a donation to a good cause. The Karma Bus will come around one day and pay me back.

Needless to say I am thrilled to be getting a JKUR (a running, reliable, family Jeep) to take off on some adventures with my kids. You have all the cool toys!

Luckynav Can anyone help me with my build issue? I think I saw this asked before on the 70 page 2014 page, but can't find it now... why does the dual top group cost $1948 invoice, but the three piece black hardtop and premium sunrider cost $1242 ordered separately? Did I miss something? Pat posted that the group included deep tinted windows, but that is still only another $352 invoice?

I didn't haggle over my price. I just emailed multiple dealers and basically told them what options I wanted, that I had an Affiliate Discount, that I understood how it worked and how much they were rebated, and that I was looking for the best OTD price. I ended with an offer around 3.7% under invoice....and I never asked for more.

Sucker Punch Who me? I WISH! Still waiting on granite... Black is looking better and better all the time, but I would prefer to have something a little less common as the black JKU's I see everywhere. Granite and black are really the only 2 colors I feel comfortable with. The wait continues... I just preemptively got all the haggling and junk out of the way so I can place my order as soon as granite is available. Hopefully I will order the first day granite becomes available!

BostonStrong77 Did you order yet?
07-12-2013 06:32 AM
Sucker Punch I actually had another member on the forum PM me that lives near my area that may want to team up with me on his order. The funny thing is he is wanting a granite rubicon as well. The good news is we live 45 minutes to an hour apart so we won't be passing each other on a regular basis.

You think I have some more room to work on the dealer if we combine ordering forces? Even if we could get them to waive or partially waive the Doc Fee would be enough for me.
Whatcha think? That $549 Doc fee is irritating. I'm gonna check with another dealer and see what their doc fees are.
07-11-2013 07:37 PM
BostonStrong77 The max they can charge here in Arkansas is $129 and most waive it.

Jeez you don't want the dealer to make anything do you? Better not expect much service after the sale.

Are you a dealer? They are making money on me. Don't worry about the dealer. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to flag my Jeep as the "no service whatsoever Jeep" over this deal.

If a dealer has a doc fee, legally they have to charge every customer. This is an affiliate program rule I believe, not the state. That's a great price, good job. As we talked in PM, you'll always be able to get it cheaper.

Did you go half doors?
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the half doors and I am about 90% sure I'm going with a Rubicon. I plan on owning this thing for a long time and the 4.10 and dana 44 front and other rubi goodies just make more sense in the long run. I will likely just run 35's at first, but will probably upgrade to 37's at some point and the Rubi is a better setup for that. Thanks for your help Rubiwho. I honestly am not going to haggle them too much over the $549 doc fees. I said I would be happy with 2% below invoice and I am currently sitting around 3.5% below invoice when you figure in the $549 so I am really excited about this deal! But I am waiting until granite is available. Hopefully will be able to order in the next month or two! It's just nice having all the haggling mostly over with

I joined Treadlightly to get the 1% below invoice, but I am really trying hard to get at least 2% below invoice on this order or a little more if possible. I have contacted a few local dealers and have been talking with them via email. I have my hopes up that the granite may be available to order this week, so I am trying to get all the haggling out of the way so I can just go in and get my order started as soon as possible.

This is only my second vehicle I have ever bought brand new and the 1st vehicle I have ever ordered. What would be your approach? And what would you expect to pay for what I have built?

This is the largest Jeep dealer in the state and they have all their new unlimited's marked down $3,188 off MSRP. Anyone else have any advise or expertise on the whole Doc Fees?

Up Hill Bill Under the Affiliate Rewards program, the dealer may charge you the same DOC fees they charge on EVERY other new sale, or nothing. In your position, I think I'd call the Affiliates folks (888 444-4321) and ask them how you can verify that this is the case with the DOC fee you were quoted. They were extremely helpful on the several occasions I called them.

p.s. It seem like you've pared the price down to the minimum, even with the DOC fee. The dealer deserves to make a little profit somewhere....
07-11-2013 05:03 PM
Sucker Punch OK Fellas, I feel like I have worked up a pretty good deal, BUT then I asked him if there were any other fees tied to that and he said, $17 for something(which sounded legit) and then a $549 Doc fees.

Ok, here is the deal that I think is pretty darn good, but tell me what you think.

I have built a JKUR MSRP = $38650. Invoice = $36,746.00

I have them at 2% below invoice with Treadlightly and they will give me the Holdback which is $1,129.00 which brings the price to $34,881 ($3,769 off MSRP). What do ya think?

Now, about that ridiculous doc fee... $549 is crazy. Apparently TN does not have a limit on what dealers can charge on the Doc fees. Should my next step be to tell them to eat the Doc fees and let some other poor shlub pay it? I have another month or so before I order so I want to get all this stuff hammered out and ready to go once granite becomes available. I am also going to make sure they get all this in writing so they can't bait me in and then switch at the last minute. Any help would be appreciated!
