Thanks guys. I took the plate off and did my best to clear out the pin hole, then put in the new pin, bumping it down a bit with a rubber mallet. Seems snug enough now.
My only question was about taking the plate off...when I did, the plate bolts had a green film on them...should I be adding some sort of compound to these when I put them back in? Also any ideas how tight they should be?

|jokerchief462||It is a front cover and that is all. Easy enough to remove. You should be able to clear the old pin and install the new one and replace the cover. May be a good time to put in a new desk while it is apart. The pin maintains alignment if the slave cylinder.|

|AllMudd||Kinda confused on what pin and hole you are referring to. But that big plate allows you to see some of the gears and synchros. And it's removable for rebuilds and replacing the shaft seal.|

Clutch Slave Pin - Broken in half?
I'm replacing my slave cylinder and, when I opened up the trans to get to it, I found the pin and retaining nut were in pieces inside the bell housing.
Since the old pin piece I found is shorter than the new one that came with the clutch kit I'm suspecting that a small piece of the old pin is broken off inside the pin hole. I have no idea how to get it out?!
I put in the new pin and it feels like it doesn't go in as far as it should (but I have no frame of reference).
Thoughts on what I should do? Should I assume the broken pin is still in there and not proceed until I get something out? (suggestions on how?) Should I ignore it, put in the pin in anyway and assume it'll stay put? (thinking not).
The other option I suppose is to remove the big plate with the big bolts that the hole is actually in and hpoe I can push the pin out from the other side. But, I dont know what that plate is and what I may be getting into if I remove it.
