sparky Depends where you go. Some auto stores, like Pep Boys, replace the battery for free.

CoyoteOn2 Maybe the Working Class should be glad that the Auto Repair Profession doesn't fall into the same Class as the Medical or say the Law Profession. Just going into THEIR WORLD and asking a question could run you a $500.00 bill or more, and IF THEY
actually had to do anything Physical, that would cost your first born, or more. Think
about that. They'll drop a $100 bill just to have a guy park their car when they go to
dinner, and NEVER give it a second thought.

wolfsbone01 odd42 what is sounds like to me is that they charged the price of the battery of $100 and a 1/2hr labor charge of $50, which might seam high in some regards but some labor books with some cars list the battery swap as a 1/2hr job to do even though it might only take 10 to 15mins to actually do.

odd42 $100

imanotright how much was the battery then?

wolfsbone01 on average most shops will charge between $80 up to $150 or more depending on the shop and or the service that they are doing. I know one shop here in my town that there normal rate is $90hr, but if you supply the parts that rate goes up to $125hr because they are not making any money on parts. On that note most people don't realize that shops pay a much lower price on parts and then they jack up the price and make a profit sometimes they are making a 100% profit on some parts.

Is that one of those that has the battery buried deep in the engine compartment where you sometimes have to get to it via the wheel well or other unconventional methods?

elite56 Pretty much. I remember just a few months back 4wheel parts told me they were just under a $100 an hour. I don't remember exactly but somewhere in the 90 dollar range for sure.
