It is possible they did not re-secure the shifter to the shift tower properly. There is a metal cap with a strong spring inside that is inserted into the shift tower that gets depressed and turned a 1/4 turn to lock in. That process can be a nightmare sometimes
By the way if it was the throw out bearing it would only make noise when the clutch was depressed, not when it was let out

throw out bearing and loose gear shift
Good day Guys,
I'm a newbie here and have a question. I have a 2001 wrangler 4L straight shift. I was told my throw out bearing needed to be replace because you could hear it when you let out on the clutch, so I took it to a local garage and when I returned a couple of days later to pick it up. I could still here the bearing singing and the gear shift had no resistance in neutral you can push it right and left and it will stay in the position. Plus you can now turn the whole arm clock wise a quarter of a turn, which you could not do previously. so my question is, what causes this and what should be my next step.
Thanks for your help,
