Rear dana 60's are about the same as a dana 44, most have 30 spline shafts. If your going that big consider the ford 10.25 2nd gen rear. has 35 spline shaft and are cheap to buy. Front wise. skip the 44 not much better than your HP30.. go for a dana 60 front with upgraded outer shafts to 35 spline.

OR if you just want to run the 35's swap in a ford 8.8 and upgrade your shafts in your HP30 and call it a day.

AllMudd Are you trying to find out what axles you have so you can buy the gears for the correct axles? And now you want to know if 4.88s will be good? Stock YJ axles are Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear. And 4.88s will work but you will be running higher RPMs at lower speeds. Also keep in mind its a 50/50 chance on your rear. The Dana 35 is not a strong axle for gears/lockers/big tires.

Here is what happened to my Dana 35 with <90k and 4.56 with ARB locker. The spider gears blew out twice within 500 miles.

brachilius stock Dana 30 front and Dana 35 year. Your gear ratio will be stamped on a tag attached to the diff cover.
