Shelby427 Call your insurance company. You may have glass coverage you don't know about.
I have $500.00 deduct on both my collision and comprehensive and had the windshield done for nothing.

Many insurance companies see it as a lot cheaper to replace the glass, then paying collision damages cause you were distracted by something on the glass.

As for the buffing, well be careful. You can distort your view when you buff the glass and actually make the problem even worse. Most glass companies won't do it any more, especially when the insurance companies will pay em to replace it.

IcarusLSC Go at it with the stuff you have, it does take a while though

Alien Jeepers It turns out its not a goo on the glass but micro scratches from like a dirty windshield going back and forth.

Friend of mine has some Diamondite brand glass surface cleaner and polisher and we tried the lubricant / claybar first and it did not remove the scratches but it did smooth out the glass meaning now when you run you hand through it it glides where before the impurities would slow your hand down.

We then tried the fine scratch sealer / remover (same kit) and it did nothing..

so I think i may try the 0000 again and or a cerium oxide paste and buffing wheel.

So now that we know they are scratches... any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks Guys! I will try the Bon-Ami if I can find it. if not I will order it, but since I am dying to go run up some hills, i will also try that GUNK GC-1 / 0000 pad and / or razor blade... i will be sure to try a little corner first.

You guys are great!!

Rockdoggy421 YIKES!!! Try some Bon-Ami. It's good for removing road film and won't scratch.

wmdavis007 Get some quality glass cleaner like GUNK GC1 glass cleaner and some 0000 super fine steel wool. The glass cleaner you can get from any auto parts store and the 0000 steel wool you can get from Lowe's or Home Depot. Spray the glass with the cleaner until soaked and with very light pressure wipe the glass with the super fine steel wool (I use small circles). Barely any pressure is all you need...don't want to scratch you glass. I do this several times a year to thoroughly clean my auto glass. It gets ride of all the streaks from the wipers and baked on water spots. Just remember not to use much pressure and never use any steel wool other then 0000 super fine. Works for me, hope this helps. Grats on getting a TJ!!

jeepdude2003 Use a razor blade and keep the windshield lubed with windex that's how I take stickers off glass

streaks / film on windshield can't remove it

I bought a 06 Rubi TJL. I Love it! You guys helped me be sure it was the one. One issue it has is a haze like if you had dirty sticky stuff on your windshield and then you ran the wipers and made it worse... i tried windex, gasoline and my wife's nail polish remover... i have not tried a razor blade...

It's not pitting on the glass. There is even a spot where it looks like someone took a clean blade a removed about a 4 inch long section of film.

Any suggestions? i know RainX works After you clean glass...

Thanks in Advance!
