Sorry the 3 inches of BL won't blow up. Seems like you are worrying too much about it. Just get it taken care of it when you get a chance.

JeepnJim I have no clue about the clicking while turning on your ride. Maybe you need new bumpstops because of your wheel backspacing. Somebody may be of help but as far as the article copied to your other thread about pros and cons of suspension lift versus body lifts I like the part about a body lift doing nothing else but make room for bigger tires. That's what I'm talking about. Even with a suspension lift wether it's 2" or 6" your differentials gain no added ground clearence at all. That comes from tire size. Maybe getting a few inches of frame ground clearence helps keep some hard core wheelers from getting hung up on a boulder or log but I pick a less damaging path during my moderate wheeling. But like I said, my current wheeling fun involves traveling areas just bad enough to keep cars away but it would seem like a walk in the park to our more capable brothers and sisters. If I had a suspension lift I would like it but I don't so I like what I have and don't be afraid of your 3" body lift. Jeep has done an excellant job designing the TJ's offroad capabilities in stock form. People can modify them to go into the kinda places they choose to go into or to just look cool. I love all jeeps from posers to rockcrawlers to stockers. Good luck Islandmonkey.

Schmo The new BL will come with the instructions you are seeking . . . or just do a simple google search and you should find what you are looking for. I found a couple cool video's that should let you know what you are in for. Lot's of people run the combo's you are looking at with a 1 or 1.25" BL and any type of suspension lift you can think of. Especially if they are looking to go with a tummy tuck, etc, the extra room from the BL helps. But you'll notice that there are very few that will recommend a 3" BL on a TJ. There are several reasons to ditch that 3" BL, and that god aweful gap is not the main one, althougth it would probably be enough for me.

islandmonkey I hear clicking when turning or some bumps... I am afraid it is the body lift, what do you think?

See this thread, lot of people told me to lose the body lift. I am not comfortable driving, just because they told me to lose it

Here it is:

Let me know what you think. It will be interesting.

thanks

JeepnJim Hey Islandmonkey, When I bought my '04 TJ X back in Feb it already had a 3" body lift and 32x11.50 Sport King ATs. I really liked the jeep after test driving her so I bought it with the intent to cut the lift parts down to 1" high and stick a 2" BB to return her to the 3" she came with. But after reading about death wobbles and so forth I began to rethink my plans. Jeep spent millions on engineering the suspension geometry for their sturdy beast and keep in mind that I don't put my DD jeep into the kind of offroad situations that will get me into trouble. you gotta know your limits and your Jeep's limits. It has great suspension travel as is and with the three extra inches from the body lift giving the 32" tires room to work I can maintain the awsome factory ride and travel down some moderate trails and what not without worry. Maybe I'm in the minority but I've had lifted CJs and XJs and the good and bad that comes along with suspension lifts but for my current offroading style I'm leaving my Jeep's suspension alone while enjoying a lifted look and a bit offroad improvement. Here's a pic or two just for fun. It will be interesting to see what you end up doing since I considered the same thing. By the way, the body lift feels solid as a rock and with the heavy engine and tranny at the factory height it takes curves with a very confident feeling.

Anyone removed 3" body lift and replace it with 1"?

I will remove the 3" body lift, and put 1" in there, it shoudn't be too hard. I need pictured or detailed instructions. How do I lift the jeep with 33 tires?
What is the procedure? I googled it, man oh man, so many things written, but not according to my setup. So i will take any recomendations. I am not a hardcore 4 wheeler, or rock crowler at all. I might play later on though, and do NOT trust this high body lift at all.

Current setup:

3" body lift
33x12.5 15 tires

Wanna to a budget lift; maybe 1" body lift and 2" suspension lift with new 32x11.50 15 tires

here are some pics
