distortedtj Most likely it has a harness installed to run the kenwood you have in there now. "HOPE SO". and hope it wasn't "jimmy rigged".

If it does have one of the universal adaptor harnesses installed all you need to do is remove the adapter from the old kenwood and splice it to the new unit.

wrangler87 ok, i got one more question before i jump into this tomorrow...... if i already have an aftermarket Kenwood in there, will i still have to change the wire harness or is it an one size fit all sort of thing, or does every brand have a different wiring harness?

jdhallissey Wrangler87 it will take you maybe a hour to do the jeep is completely labeled on the wiring harness.

woods453 Don't forget the fm antenna plug in the back. It's separate from the wiring harness.

stevens243 So, you have a kenwood in now? What are you replacing it with?

The insert may be different, do you have it for the "new" stereo?

If so, you can pull the kenwood out, get the stereo cage out, insert the new cage, wire the new plug and insert it.

wrangler87 i have an aftermarket kenwood.......?

stevens243 Yep, the OEM radios are also bolted from the back. So, if you have a stocker, no shortcuts.

Whatcha got?

jdhallissey Have you had a aftermarket radio in there already? IF you have not had a aftermarket radio in there then yes. You need to get a install kit for a jeep wrangler and it will be a plateto make the hole smaller.
