charging module

oks..see if I can keep this straight..I have a '85 CJ, for what ever reason it has an older charging/wiring system on it. I have installed a one wire Delco charging system (150 ohm resitor) in place. The old charging module has literally melted out of the vehicle. I took it out with out any problems so far, can anyone tell me if I can just trace back all the unused wires and cut them back with out fear of it quitting on me out in the woods?..this whole CJ project has been way outa the norm...the beast has a 5.38 Waggy locker in the front with extrame modified suspension I need to tweak in yet...right now I am cutting out rust and burning in new material, included anchoring it all for the roll bar modifications...any help would be appreciated in doing any part of this CJ project..
