NAVYCHIEF i just looked at a breakdown of the tranny. it is probably not the boot. look for a rectangular piece called the "control shift lever retainer". it is held down by 4 bolts and has a gasket. check bolts for proper security and maybe even check the gasket.go to scribd.com for a complete jeep parts catalog.

leak in tranny shifter boot

i have a 95 4cl 5speed yj. i just took a 800 mile trip and when i got there i found oil comming out of the shift boot on my floor board so i removed the boot to look at the top of the tranny and found the oil is comming from the shifter boot where the shifter rod goes into the tranny. my question is what would cause the boot to fail and do i only have to reolace the boot or is there more that need done.

thanks for any info i get
