I am very happy with the pro comp mx-6 adjustables. Doetsch tech makes nice shocks too.

|tonkchief||You can buy Rancho shocks that are for 0 to 2 inch lift and they will work fine.|

Sounds good. Any good brands for both on and off road?
Also do I have to worry about major failure on the bolts when going to take them off? I am used to a Cherokee where all the bolts under the body snap off whether it be shock bolts, tcase bolts, sway bar links, etc...
Or will a torch and pb blaster do the trick?

Do I need new shocks for 1" of lift
I have 31"s on my stock YJ and they don't rub at all while turning or over bumps but I imagine they will off road when flexing. I was planning to do a small shackle lift that would give me an extra 1" of lift. I need new shocks bad front and rear(factory originals still with 130K+) so I want to know if I can just buy original shocks or if I need taller shocks for only 1" of lift.
