A lift as minor as 2 inches will not cause you to have to re do anything. Not really.

Nice combination of engine and trans. My advice? Have fun. That's what your Jeep was built for.

There it is....
I like the idea of a Budget Boost, Ill be searching around here for a while now Maybe throw a 1" body lift on there too and then throw on some 33's!

kdukes4 definitley will...also don't forget about wheels if you plan to get new ones or don't have 15x8's. you could get away with the stock 15x7's if that's what you have. might be a little tight if you want 33's though, even 32's.

4Jeepn so 32 or 33" tires. Good, Now what is your budget for the lift and tires.. that will play a major role as well.
08-31-2009 12:35 PM
kdukes4 a BB is a perfectly fine way to go for someone on a tight budget and doesn't plan on putting 35" or bigger tires on their jeep. tonsssss of people run a 2"BB with 31's or 32's. throw on a 1" body lift and you can go up to 33's. for bewtween 2-$300 its not a bad way to go(just for the BB and shocks) Like you mentioned, you don't plan on running your jeep offroad too much and you just want it to look a little beefier then usual. you could do a suspension lift with the OMEs but for the price difference?? well its up to you. GL! search BB or budget boost, you'll find tons of threads about it. I'm runnin 2" BB with skyjacker hydros and their awesome for the price.

WarriorTi22 OR the full OME kit? Sorry, I have been searching for a while on here (I know it makes everyone mad when the same questions are asked, I just want to do everything right!) THANKS!

WarriorTi22 The 3" Full Traction economy lift looks nice to me. The price isnt too bad. I have read that when paired with some OME shocks, its a great combo? Would I need to do anything else to my jeep to make this work? Will it throw off the drivetrain at all? Thanks so much for helping out a Jeep NOOB!

WarriorTi22 I was thinking 32s or 33's?

Fatbob309 Oh yeah.. Welcome and Auto trans is the way to go.

Fatbob309 What size tires do you want to run? I want to run 40" tires but I have friends that want to run 33... You need to figure out what you want to run...
Do things right the first time with a budget boost??? Ummmm no. Will it get you started. Yes.

WarriorTi22 Also, for those wondering, its the 6 cylinder, 5 speed... I heard theres no other way to go?

Help Out a New TJ owner...

So I bit the bullet and sold my 2000 civic si so that I could buy a jeep. I think I have found the right one after searching pretty hard. Its a 2004 X with around 80k on it. Its bone stock. I really want to "pimp out" my jeep, if you will. I am looking forward to doing light off-roading, but nothing too serious. I was looking into lifting it and throwing some larger tires and some aftermarket wheels on too. I was also thinking about putting on a few bolt-ons like a K&N Intake and maybe a flowmaster exhaust. My questions....What do I need to know about lifting? I want to do everything "right" the first time, but Im still on a budget.

(Fabtech, skyjacker, rubicon express, bestop, truck tires, pro comp wheels)

^^that is the kit i have been looking at...what do you think? I dont want anything too obnoxious, but I still want it to look lightly modified, and I want it to be able to fit whichever tires I may decide to throw on there.... Thanks for all your help in advance, and if theres anything you think I should know, PLEASE TELL ME!!

(P.S. I have already been strictly warned by my uncle and cousins who are wrangler owners that I MUST do the jeep wave )
