exhaust

Parts is what I do for a living know gor 17 years and have sold both. Magnaflow is one of the best exhaust systems that I have ever sold. Magnaflows quality and fitment is the best I would go with the magnaflow for sure.

well i don't know if you're going to get exactly the same performance, the mufflers chambers are most likely going to be different, which will then affect everything. there are tons of variables to consider, but for me where your from and what you're using your jeep for is what i focused mostly on. since im in maine, with the salty roads, the lifetime warranty of a full stainless steel muffler for a dirty cheap price seemed like a pretty smart decision. i was going to do a thrush but for another $30 for a magnaflow? why not.

kdukes4 i'm sure it is. its a rip off at that price.

Mocaco_Luc that's what I got quoted...$450 (for either the magnaflow or flowmaster)...so it must be the whole kit then.

na that was total... i agree with jerry. the kits are waaay over priced. so i called magnaflow and found out the universal muffler model from the kits and bought it off ebay. went to meinike and they did the 2.5 pipe. I planned to clamp and do the install myslef but they were so desperate for money they offered to install/weld the whole thing for $40! so i pretty much did the $450 kit for much much cheaper.

Jerry Bransford Personally, I think the pre-assembled exhaust system like from Magnaflow and Flowmaster are way overpriced. If it were me, I would just go to an exhaust shop and let them make one for you to match your likes. I had to have mine replaced after changing my suspension around so the stock system no longer fit. I spent $85-90 total at a small local independent (NOT A CHAIN) muffler shop and had them install a Thrush brand muffler which sounds better than stock without sounding like a ricer or too loud. If it's looks are important to you, then can even have them install a fancy chrome or stainless steel tip on it to make it look like a Magnaflow or Flowmaster system. Avoid going to a chain muffler shop like Midas where they'll just rape you.

kdukes4 i put in a magnaflow this summer and increased the tailpipe to 2.5" and love it. doesn't sound like a honda or any chevy or ford, it sounds like a mean jeep. did the whole thing for $150. plus, lifetime warranty. if you want quality, this is it.

Custom Exhaust choice: Magnaflow or Flowmaster

I just called up a local custom exhaust shop near me to get a quote which is the same for either going with the magnaflow or the flowmaster. He mentioned that they are both good quality, however, that the flowmaster is quite loud and droning compared to the magnaflow. I told him I just wanted whatever will give me the best throttle response and power gains. I will be doing a lot of highway miles with my Jeep so i don't want my exhaust to leave me deaf or my ears ringing all night by the time i get home. lol. so what is your take? which is worth more for the gain?
