19yj89 my problem isn't the gasket/seal though. No leaks at all there. It is leaking at the pcv and the oil cap. both of which have been replaced.

CJinPA Take the valve cover off, clean it and the head surface. Put a good bead of form-a-gasket on the valve cover. Let it sit for at least an hour if not longer to set up and put it on the motor. Like vintageagain said be careful not to over torque the valve cover bolts. Look in a haynes manual for the torque spec. They are only slightly more than finger tightened. An aluminum valve cover would seal better than the plastic one since it wont change shape as much as the plastic one does when it gets hot.

vintageagain if you replaced the valve cover or even used your existing one, a common mistake is over torquing the valve cover bolts.

4cyl plastic valve cover

ok when we first got the yj she had a cracked (3 spots) valve cover. It also leaked at the pcv and the filler cap. We've since replaced all parts, cover, pcv, cap and grommets. She's still leaking oil from the new cap and pcv grommet. Is this something I'll have to live with or is there a way to fix it? Finally got her running and now she just wants to blow oil EVERYWHERE! lol
