jgano23 i don't know much about synthetic winch line, but i know that you get what you pay for. be very careful which one you select b/c winch line is no place to skimp on quality. the last thing you want is the line to snap half way (or more) up a hill. research very carefully and find out why it is so much cheaper. chinese imported products are, very often, low quality and barely meet safety requirements. i would try to buy American because the quality is much better (among other benefits).

i have a new winch (Smitty Built XRC8)

I got is 2 days ago, but i really want to replace the cable with synthetic line, however i would rather replace it with line that doesnt break the bank (unless It is a bad idea to do it any other way)

i can get Amsteel line for arount $191 for 5/16 100'

but I also found some line from Promark Offroad (formally Gorilla Winches)

for $99 for 5/16 92'

the XRC8 currently comes with 5/16 92' galvanized steel cable

here is a link

to the site

Promark Offroad — Gorilla Winches is now ProMark Offroad
