|cheapjeep71||I love my YJ because I like going place those coil spring Jeeps think that only they can go. I love showing up people with better built rigs. My YJ is not the biggest baddest most techinlogically advanced, but it gets me there no matter where there is.|

|crtaylor||I have been looking for the right jeep for a year .I found it .My 1st was a 80 CJ5 my father left me when he passed.I loved that jeep.rebuilt from ground up drove it hard.broke frame ,let it go. In 2003 I was diag with MS ,at that time had just finished my 1980 HD .Another rebuild, ground up.scince I lost my sight in one eye I decided not to ride so sold the bike.Looked high and low for a jeep .didnt matter CJ,YJ,XJ.just wanted a jeep.So i came across this 95 ,clean little jeep.drove it home remembering how great it was to have the wind and the feeling of freedom, almost as good as my HD but much safer for me .Then it happened .The engine blew up,I never got upset ,just did what Ive always done rebuild.Me and my jeep will be together till the end.I fell in love with jeeps when I was young ,watching RAT PATROL with my father. I mis him and have alot of great memories every time I start it up and let the clutch out|

It's the freedom! My excape from everything else. Whether in my garage tinkering for hours or running down the road or trail without the top on. It's the lakes it's taken me to. The time spent with friends and family with.
I am 44 now and have owned my YJ now for 16 years. It has lasted through my Masters degree, two children, 3 dogs and now my soon to be x-wife.
The Jeep is part of my identity. The enjoyment over the years have come from diffent areas. In the early 90's it was the newest and the coolest. In the late 90's it was the weekends away that it provided. In the last 7 years (although parked in the garage a lot) it was the time spent maintaining her and figuring out what she is accually capable of.
Now I enjoy the time teaching my ten year old how to work on it. The jeep is basic, easy to understand. Easy to modify and rewarding. My son will learn the way.
I have put every mile on it.
I have put very scratch on it. (I value all of them)
It is paid for.
Nobody will take it for me.

I have to say, I have more comments from passersby than any Muscle car I ever had.
Only my "72" Dodge Dart Demon340 came close to drawing that much attention.
Just yesterday I was going into the local big box parts store & the dude coming out started telling me how nice my jeep was & wanted to know what year it was.
Even his S/O was saying it was nice.
I like pretty much everything about mine more than other vehicles I've owned.

|RedWrangler||You guys have summed it up pretty well. She's a beast that rides rough and noisy, but she never lets you down, goes wherever you point her, and there's really nothing else like her. It's an unconditional love kind of thing. I always wanted a jeep since I was a kid, and once I got my YJ, I realized exactly why. Whether it's riding naked (No, not like that! I mean with no top or doors.) in the summer, or plowing through the snow during a winter storm, climbing up a dirt hill, crossing a creek, sneaking through a really tight spot on a trail that leaves the full sized rigs turning around, or pulling up to that favorite bit of beach in the OBX, IBSP, or wherever I want to wet a line, I am always happy at the wheel of my little red wrangler. I know it's hackneyed, but it's true for the infidels, "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand."|

|kaycee83||Yea what's with no one wanting to ride in the Jeep? Now it's "too cold"..in the summer it was just like.."i'll drive"...Hahah...I think i might marry my YJ|
|12-07-2009 11:09 PM|
|jpdocdave||yep, definately a combination. historical significance, reliability, rugged design, a simple and strong mechanical vehicle that we enjoy when most people couldn't even handle riding in it. its a lifestyle, and you form a relationship with your jeeps, at least i do.|
|12-07-2009 11:03 PM|
|NAVYCHIEF||because of where it takes me|
|12-07-2009 10:26 PM|
|kaycee83||Because there's no other vehicle that can come close to it, even after all the headaches it causes me! YJ!|
|12-07-2009 10:25 PM|
|Vaultzz||Because of How Beastly it is !|

Recently I was driving down the highway and I started thinking about why I love my YJ so much. I know it's noisy, it has a rough ride, gets bad gas mileage, and burns a hole in my pocket (with addons that is,) but I can't help but really enjoy my vehicle. I've owned several cars, but nothing has come close to my Jeep. My YJ has helped my in several sticky situations, started every morning I've started her up, and has never stranded me anywhere. I couldn't say the same about my old car, which was a Mercedes that cost way more than my YJ.
My question to you guys is, why do you guys love your yjs?
