|RoadiJeff||Hmm...I can't see how that bleeder screw would have anything to do with coolant flow inside the lines. It's not like it shuts off a valve or something. It just looks to be a screw that lets trapped air inside the lines escape. I'll check mine anyway this weekend.|

I've got over 6k miles on mine and I still hear the noise.

Just keep coolant in your overflow bottle, and the cooling system will purge itself in time. Mine took about 1,000 miles, and I also added some coolant to the bottle a couple of times. For whatever reason, this cooling system design, has a hard time purging out all of the air.
I often wondered, if this has something to do with the cylinder head issue....

|Matador||So an update for others that have this issue. It turned out to be an open bleeder valve. The valve was left open on my Jeep. It would vent out any air in the lines, along with trickles of coolant once the engine warmed up, once it cooled down the system would de-pressurize and air would be sucked back in through the open valve, that would result in the sound behind the dash. My solution was to run the engine with the bleeder valve open until it warmed up and then simply closed it while the engine was running and the coolant system was pressurized. That ensured that it was properly bled and no air is sucked into the line once it cooled down. I'm happy to report that I don't have any more sounds. The coolant system is finally bled properly and the Jeep is running great again.|

|Wallyjj||Mine was making the sound a couple weeks ago and I saw in some threads about tightening the bleeder valve. My bleeder valve had crusty pink residue on it which I assume meant there was some leaking there? I got down to it and made about a 1/4 turn to finish tightening it. I'm not 100% sure that was the fix but I haven't heard it recently.|

I'm also well aware that this is a first world problem, the Jeep runs great otherwise and has no more ticking issues and I should probably be thankful that the major issues were taken care of and should let this go, I just can't.

|gakersm||You're not crazy, mine does it too in the winter. I'm like insylem and just ignore it, turn the radio up. When I first started hearing it I started looking at all the forums for the cause. Seems to be a known problem but nothing to be concerned about. Others have voiced frustration that the some dealers act like they've never heard of the issue.|

The Pentastar is different, its a "Self Bleeding" system that circulates coolant into a reservoir. So you start up the engine and as it warms up, the coolant starts rising, it hits the pressure cap and bleeds out through a small channel that is then carried through a small hose and dumped into an overflow reservoir, that has expansion space and then a curved open outlet that allows air to leave the system. The curved opening is at the very top so as long as the coolant is kept within the proper limits it won't spill out. The coolant is then fed back into the block from underneath the reservoir. The engine also has an additional bleed valve underneath the throttle body and you can un-screw that and bleed it from the top also but the circulation should work out any bubbles.
What makes this problem unique is that the sound seems to be coming from INSIDE the Jeep, so that is directly related to the heater core inside the Jeep behind the glove compartment. What's strange is that coolant should not be coming into the heater core until it reaches the proper temperature then the thermostat opens up and lets the coolant in. Instead the coolant seems to be rushing into the heater core from the start. I'm arguing that the thermostat it stuck open and that's why the coolant is rushing into the heater core at start up and its even louder as I accelerate, but getting these techs or service manager to understand that is difficult when they claim to not HEAR anything in the first place.

|insylem||I have that sound too sometimes, I just ignore it. Let us know if they find something wrong though. I would guess its just air getting into the heater core and the water working its way though, as the air works out once it warms up.|

Interior coolant trickling sound
So I had the head replaced on my 2012 a couple of weeks ago. Ever since then I have been having a coolant sloshing/trickling sound inside the Jeep. It only happens when the Jeep is cold and gets louder as I accelerate. Once the jeep warms up the sound stops.
I have taken it back to the dealer several times, the first time they just told me that there was possibly air in the lines and to drive it for a couple of days and it will work itself out. After a week of driving it was still making the same sound, so I took it back. This time they asked to keep it over night so they can hear the sound first thing in the morning. I call in the afternoon the next day to check on the status. First the rep tells me that they didn't get a chance to check it out. Next he comes back and tells me that they actually did check it but couldn't hear anything so I could pick it up.
I pick it up and of course its warm, so its not making the sound anymore. I continue to argue with the service manager and the tech about it and we conclude that I would leave the Jeep over night and go there personally in the morning to show them exactly what I hear.
This morning I filmed some video to capture the sound and post it up. Please watch the video and let me know if I'm losing my mind. It sounds like I have a trickling stream inside the Jeep.
