MR.CLIFFORD I've never used the Haynes manual because I've read online that it is a decent source for info but sometimes it lacks stuff. I've always used the FSM and have never felt like it left me without proper instructions for the task at hand. That's why I prefer to recommend the FSM over the Haynes.

Head gasket

So a Haynes manual would not be the proper manual to follow along with on this repair?

The proper repair manual is the Factory Service Manual for your specific year. With the confidence in yourself and the FSM you should be game to go. You need a torque wrench that has been calibrated properly. Outside of that it is fairly straight forward. The only tricky part about it is tightening the bolts in order. The FSM tells you how.

Head gasket

I need some good advice on weather to do a head gasket repair myself or spend a ton of money at some mechanic shop. Its a 2000 Wrangler with 93,000 miles. I already had it in to a Jeep dealer who told me the reason I was loosing coolant was because the seams were breaking on the radiator. So $500 dollars later I have a new radiator and was still loosing coolant. I checked the oil and it was way up on the stick but not green.....just watery looking. They told me the would be able to tell me if it was just the head gasket or a cracked head after they tear it down. I am no mechanic but am fairly confident I could do this myself with the proper repair manual and some assistance from friends. Any advice out their???????
