Rayko I've never tried it but an old timer told me that origional type Listerene mouth wash works. It gets mixed with water (but I don't remember the amount of water) and sprayed on. He said, you smell like a dentist office but it works. Like I said, I never tried it though.

I know the green heads well. Their shape is a little different, kinda stretched out. They are easy to kill. But they do bite hard. They draw blood.

A co-worker suggested Skin So Soft. He said it works well with the flies, less so with mosquitos. I've used it before, and wasn't too impressed, but I didn't use it against the flies. ALso, bug spray combined with sun tan lotion combines to make a weird greasy coating that's hard to wash off.

Gixxer86g Lee, I didn't see any of the green ones. These ones looked like house flies, just a little smaller.

workshop4ever There is no solution that I know of. Those little things had green heads right? They've been a problem for the 15+ years I've been going there. It's really only bad when the winds out of the west. They mostly disappear any other time.

A bit south of the old fishing shack. I caught one croaker, just a little guy.

I'm covered in bites.

Gixxer86g Scott, It's probably better you didn't make it to Island Beach. Light wind from the west, the friggin flies were the worst I've ever seen. Bug spray wasn't doing much.

Look at them all over the inside of the Jeep:

Duhboy I'm gonna check the tide reports. Let u know.

Gixxer86g Scott, I'm not 100% sure what time yet, I'm shooting to get there by 11. Maybe a bit before, maybe a bit after. I got the CB in, we could use channel 10 to hook up.

I'll be getting on the Parkway just before the Driscoll Bridge. Right where 287 comes in.

I'm probably only bringing one pole.

I can't miss your JK! And I'll be the only black TJ covered in mud!

Duhboy What time n where u coming from?
06-24-2013 06:57 PM
Gixxer86g I'm heading to Island Beach tomorrow if anyone's around. It would be nice to gain some tips from some experienced guys.

Rayko Hey Rob
I see the western LI adress, do you fish Montauk or do you stay around the Jones Beach area?
06-23-2013 08:01 PM
local15Rob I never posted back , but it is about presentation. Natural is always the best way to fish. Casting and letting it be ,is ok. But pay attention. If you can cast fresh,Awsome. Any time you fish bait ,natural is the only way to go. Find out what bait is in the area at the time and use that info to the fullest.(crabs, bunker, clams, eels, penuts, what ever).the tide the bait , it all comes together in junction. Find the formula and you will catch fish . But you have to be persistent ,and keep trying. I have been surf fishing for 30 years and it changes all the time. My grandfather told me bass are ifee, you just keep trying . Tight lines

Rayko Might try Sandy Hook Saturday 6/15, have some health issues on the homefront, so I'll see what happens.
