Geoff@Bestop One of the most popular tops is a "Replace-A-Top" from Bestop. That's probably what you're seeing when it says that you need Factory hardware.

But it's not your only choice.

You can buy a Supertop, which is very much like the factory top, but comes with its own hardware.

You can buy a Supertop Replacement Skin, which all new fabric and windows, IF the aftermarket hardware you have is a Bestop Supertop (it probably is).

You can buy a totally different top, like a Trektop.

And those are just the options from Bestop. I hear rumors that there are other companies out there selling tops. :-)

You can go to our FAQ page to see if you can identify the hardware you have now. If it is Bestop stuff, then you can contact our customer service dept to find out exactly what your options are.

JDsDream Does he already have a soft top on it? If so you probably just need the replacement top. Call Quadratec and they will tell you exactly what you need. 1 800 745 6037. They have a soft top advisor that can talk you through it.

Is factory hardware required for a replacement soft top

I am trying to buy my boyfriend a new soft top for his b day and everywhere i look to buy a top it asks for factory hardware. Is this absolutely essential or can we work around it? He has a 97 wrangler a lil 4 cyl and he has aftermarket hardware if that helps! Thanks
