Cooper tire recalls

I just read about this, & thought someone might benefit from the news.
Cooper Tire recalls nearly 8,000 tires

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling 7,769 tires because chunks of tread may come off or crack, resulting in vehicle body damage or a crash.

Cooper reported the problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Feb. 9 after a tire testing technician at the Texarkana, Ark. plant noticed it. There have been no traffic accidents or vehicle damage from the tires, Cooper Tire Investor Relations Director Curtis Schneekloth said.

The tires were manufactured from Nov. 15 to Dec. 19, 2009, for light trucks and sport utility vehicles.

They are sold under the following brands: Discoverer H/T, Discoverer LSX, Cyclone Radial SUV, Hercules Terra Trac SUV, Delta A/S Sierradial, Definity Dakota H/T, Nokian Vatiiva H/T, American Prospector SUV.

Cooper Tire will notify tire owners and will replace the tires for free. The recall is expected to begin in March, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site reported. Owners may contact Cooper Tire customer relations at 1-800-854-6288
