|J.B.||On freedom top...I ordered mine in place of the soft top with the Jeep for $654.00. Could be upwards of $2000.00 if bought seperately. WOW what a difference! Sounds like you might be a little too late now though.|

I teach and this summer I'm trying to stay out of employment. I've been practically volunteering with the BSA summer camps for the last 6 years and last year with the exception of a few good wheeling outings, I worked like a dog. Not looking to repeat that and in fact I'm planning to go to the opposite end of the spectrum of all play and no work...lots of wheeling.
Hope nothing falls off that ain't suppose to!

From my 2010 Wrangler Owners Manual:
"ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
A long break-in period is not required for the engine in your vehicle.
Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws, contributes to a good break-in. Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental and should be avoided.
The engine oil installed in the engine at the factory is a high-quality energy conserving type lubricant. Oil changes should be consistent with anticipated climate conditions under which vehicle operations will occur. The recommended viscosity and quality grades are shown in “Engine Oil”, under “Maintenance Procedures” in section 7 of this manual. NON-DETERGENT OR STRAIGHT MINERAL OILS MUST NEVER BE USED.
A new engine may consume some oil during its first few thousand miles (kilometers) of operation. This should be considered a normal part of the break-in and not interpreted as an indication of difficulty."
As far as the top....
As people told me here when I asked....get the hard top, it's much more expensive to get one later on!

Break in stuff.. First 1000 miles or so..
Try not to Redline or do real high RPMs too often or at all
Don't keep a constant RPM for long periods (30 min+) Vary it if possible..

I bought the hard top and paid $1600.00 from the dealer for the soft top. I wanted the stock soft top. At the time I did that, the hard top option if you purchased a jeep with the soft top only was in the vicinity of $2400.00 in August of 08.

|McLovin||Im not sure of the price on the hard top for '10 but i know they can run from 1800 to 2000 for a hardtop. Sometime getting lucky finding a used one in good shape.|

New Jeep, A couple of questions...
Hey everyone, I am almost positive that I will get my new 2010 wrangler sport 6 speed manual this weekend and I have a couple of questions. First off, I have heard that you should break in a new car for the first couple thousand miles or so. Please let me know if thats true and if so, then how should I do it? Also I will be buying it with the soft top, how much will it cost me to buy a hard top eventually?
