ok, thanks Geoff. That is what I was looking for.
Side question about the back window. I took it off yesterday for a short time. How the heck do you roll it up and use the straps? Are the straps just a holding place for it? I had to completely remove it and I was going to roll it up and use the straps, but I figured it was a waste of time. So i just slightly rolled it and placed it on the back seat for the short time I had it off.
My last jeep was a hard top, so I haven't had a soft top until now.

The hand knobs are holding those in place. You do not need to remove them to take the top down.
The main advantage of a Supertop over a regular (factory) top is that I get paid when you buy a Supertop. Oh, advantage for you? not really. They're very close. The factory door surrounds are probably better.

Here are some resized pictures I took with my cell.

thanks for the reply Geoff. I saw a post for that link before via searching. I have the factory hardware, but it is a supertop. I will try to get some pictures when I get home.
I do not have the door surrounds. I have full doors and they seal around the window portion from the top. Also, there is a header that is bolted in (no clips).
I have the factory bows attached to the sport bars. There is no channel attached to the side of the jeep.

Supertops come with their own door surrounds, so you would not use the factory ones.
BUT you say that you have the factory stock hardware, so you most likely do not have a Supertop.
A Supertop and the factory top look almost identical. The hardware is slightly different.
Go to this page, and see if you can identify which top you have.

|pking911||Yup, I knew the knobs were for the surrounds, but since this type of top doesn't need them, I didn't know if it was used to connect part of the top or if they are just there to keep from losing them.|

|InfernoGirl||I don't know about supertops specifically, but the hand knob/screws are for attaching the door surrounds to the roll bar. I would think you need door surrounds, but like I said, Idk... Geoff or someone else with a Supertop will be here soon to help I'm sure!|

bestop supertop questions
So I bought a 2004 TJ used. It came with a supertop already on it, but it has the factory stock hardware.
I haven't had a supertop before. I downloaded the install instructions and it definitely shed some light on the top for me. I now understand how the top attaches to the header.
Does the supertop not use the door surrounds? (mine does not have the surrounds)
What do the hand knobs/screws attach to at the top and do I have to remove them to take down the top?
Are there advantages of the supertop vs a regular soft top?
