DaK We just explored some of the runs and places out there. We ducked into the area through El Paso road which is accessed on the West end of Garlock road over by the Jawbone ranger station. Nice canyon, no challenges to speak of but if it ever rains we are definitely heading there as the waterfalls will be spectacular though the danger of flash flooding will be high. We were going to hike Nightmare for a bit but "squirrelled" somewhere along the line and ended up over where Nightmare, Last chance and Black Rock canyons meet. From there it was to the Holly cleanser mine where we ran into a bunch of Jeepers from San Diego. Must be nice to be retired with no place to be and all day to get there. We bailed on them and headed up to the Dutch cleanser mine since we always saw it but never ventured to it. The catacombs up there would take 1/2 a day to explore. We also walked the ridge path for a bit. Bride got a little un-nerved with the winds blowing like they were. Once that was complete it was off to a little diversion over by Holland Camp. Again, squirrel. Came across and oasis of sorts that had some spectacular rock formations and made for a nice short hike to go exploring. On the way back to the main area a "right turn Clyde" caught my eye and we were off. For a bit we were in Mesquite Canyon. Not much to write about that canyon other than if you are no careful you will end up in Inyokern. Not wanting to do that we took the down hill path and actually ended up at Goler Gulch. On this leg we were on EP144/5/8 and 15 for a touch. Don't know who has been keeping this canyon a secret but there are some good challenges to be conquered. Since we were alone, where we could we took the bypasses. Definitely need to get some rigs and go back up that one.

Someone has unchallenged Goler Gulch by removing the boulders that were in the choke points. As were leaving a Dodge 1500 was patiently waiting for us to clear the throat so he could progress up the canyon. Yeah, that is how wide the throat is now for this canyon. Next time I am gonna borrow someone's motorhome and drive up it.

Great day out despite the wind threat of rain.

Cons_Table Ya the v notch is cake...out of the 8 or so rigs we had, the 6 that went thru unassisted with no spotting. Its not even a challenge right now

crittert Wow, that's just sad. It looks completely different. I didn't even recognize it!

JoeBot13 Crazy how much it's changed with that rain that came through

Had a great time for sure! The weather turned out nice. The potluck was yummy. And it's always a good time when you're hitting the dirt.

Last chance canyon was definitely much easier than I have see in the past. V-notch was nothing and everyone that tried it drove through without a spotter since it was so filled in...not a chance of body damage with the condition it was in. We also checked out Burro Schmidt Tunnel. Overall, a great run with great people.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in at the potluck...it was all delicious.

I would also like to thank anyone that has been talking about nightmare gulch. We talked to a ranger at camp who sympathizes with us as it appears he is in the offroad scene as well. He says that he has watched some discussion about the closer on WF, and while upset, everyone has still been respectful. That definitely reflects back well on our hobby.

Anyways...it was a fun time and cant wait for more in the future.

This run must bring the crazies out, remember last year when Mike ran back to town and the swat team had roads blocked and snipers out? Haha, wonder what next years Nightmare Gulch run will bring???
