Maurie Ok,..I've replaced the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay, and the fuel filter...checked the fuse,..and it still won't run. With the fuel filter off, I turned the key on...fuel pump did not pump. I'm getting no voltage to the pump. Fuel gauge is still pegged all the way above full. I thought for sure the new fuel pump would remedy the problem,..because after I pulled the old pump out I put 12 volts to it and it did nothing. I tested the new one before putting it in and it ran just fine. Is it possible it's the ignition switch?

Anyone had this problem before?...

Maurie Ok...I'll check the fuel pressure regulator,..but as of right now I am getting no pressure at all. Where is the pressure regulator located?

P.S. I found and replaced the fuel pump relay with no results.

Flatepiece It's probably the fuel pressure regulator. I just bought a '98 Sahara that would take like 15 strokes before the engine would turn. Got my mechanic to fix it and now it runs fine, and it had a similar situation (was sitting for a year or so).

Need help with fuel problem

Hello all

First of all,..sorry if I posted in wrong forum, I'm not familiar with this site,(moderator please move to appropiate forum if need be).

A friend of mine owns a 1995 Wrangler,..2.5 liter, and it has been sitting for a few years in her garage. She asked me to help her get it up and running again,..so I charged the battery,..added some fresh gas to the tank,..and after a few seconds of cranking it fired right up and runs good. I drove it around her back lot for a few minutes...clutch and trans and everything works just fine.

The next morning, the battery was dead, wouldn't hold a charge, so I replaced the battery.

Here's the problem. After replacing the battery, it won't start,..getting no fuel. It will start with a little squirt of starting fluid, then die. What the heck happened, did I short something out? The key was in the off position when I replaced the battery. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse/relay box directly in front of the battery, they are all good. I assume one of those relays is the fuel pump relay, but none are marked, and they all have the same number on them. Can someone tell me how to identify which one is the fuel pump relay?

Also,..now the fuel gauge is pegged all the way to above full..even with the key off..does that mean the fuel pump itself is bad? Can someone please advise as to what my next step should be? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Maurie
