Dr. Venture i bought offline a red led strip and cut it down to size. wired it in and stuck it right above my heater controls. Kinda looks like im inside the cockpit of a helicopter like the beginning of predator with arnold..lol but it works amazingly well.

sounds like there's something wrong there, my heater will burn me out of my jeep on a 10 degree day(yes its gotten that cold here already at night and i took it for a drive to test the heater)

not true, there's quite a few people on here that have taken their heater control units out and found there's no wiring, or even a mounting place for a light bulb...the base of base models are like this, and i fear mine is too, so i'll be adding some interior lights to solve that problem....not that i need to see at night anyhow, only one setting i use, defrost...and the temp control isn't that hard to adjust with no light.

Its just 3 levers Lights are necessary on TJ's cause of all the different settings on one knob, but YJ's are easy I don't even look at it during to day to switch it around

Drpinkydo The light is inside the heater control on the right. Just replaced all my dash bulbs with LEDs. Took an hour and $12. What a difference. '91 YJ

guardian262 Yep, there is a light. The night I was driving the jeep home from the dealer the windshield started to fog up on me. Being dark outside, the heater control bulb being burnt out, and having no muscle memory of where controls were yet, I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get the defrost on.

I also had no light on my fuel gauge so when I replaced that I decided to do the heater controls as well. Same bulb by the way.

jibber The heater controls on the 95 Wrangler I bought 2 months ago were completely dark at night. I tried to see if there was a light bulb somewhere behind the controls with no luck. This past weekend I had enough. I ripped the dash off, pulled the heater control out and low and behold there was a burnt out bulb. It had 2 wires coming from it. I NOW HAVE LIGHT!!

Pull off the heater control front and there is a light on the right side on the back of the control panel front.

kik In my 89 there is a light. It never went out so I'm not sure if there are 1 or 2 bulbs in there. Whatever is in there it is completely lit at night.
