All TJs from '97 to '06 came stock with a Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 35c rear axle. Some came with the optional extra-cost much stronger Dana 44 rear axle upgrade which still used the same Dana 30 up front.

The longer wheelbase Wrangler Unlimited came standard with a rear Dana 44. The 2003 and newer Wrangler Rubicon came standard with front and rear Dana 44 axles.
