O_M_Jeep Stock from Jeep on the Jeep TJ's (97-06) is a skid under the gas tank and the skid under the transmission / transfer case, that's all they put on it, if you have a skid plate under the oil pan it's an add-on by a previous owner.

jmallay When I purchased my 2000 TJ sport I got a skid plate?(big piece of rectangular steel with diamond pattern and in the beige accessory colour of the hard top) I can't figure out what the heck it does. I assume it is a skid plate, but since previous owners have never installed it under the Jeep and never taken it off road I can only guess that they did not see a need to install it. If I can provide dimensions of this plate would anyone offer a suggestion as to where I should place it?

drivebytruckerz My TJ doesn't have a skid plate under the oil pan, but has one under everything behind it... good question.

Skid Plates

Would Jeep only put (sell) a rear skid plate on a Wrangler or would they have put both on to sell it? We recently noticed that we only have a rear skid plate and the only place we have had service done (oil changes) is at Jeep.
