Rearend popping noise

When rolling my jeep yesterday in the garage by hand to move it a little I had a popping from the rearend and a visible shake in the tires on the rear.
I rolled it foward and backward and you can feel and hear it as it rolls.
Jeep is new to me so I don't have any history as to exact mods if any in the rearend. It was not offroaded and beat up and I don't belive they would have changed anything in the differential.

As I bought it: 2001 TJ , 4" ? suspension lift , skyjacker shocks , manual trans, 18,000 orig miles , toyo 33 open country tires.

Any advise is helpful
