Winches can pull upwards of 400 amps.
However, most winches have a very small ground wire that has to be grounded for the winch to work. You could run that wire through a switch, and it will shut the winch off.
And winches also have a controller, you could set up a 3 way switch as an in-dash winch controller, but i dont think spod has 3 way switches.
Either way, spod would be overkill for either one of those, unless you were going to use it anyway for other things.

Here is an update on my wife's 2008. Essentially it is the same as mine (2012), but the power cable comes out of the side instead of the back. Internally it is the same, a fuse block, 4 relays and 2 distribution blocks (1 is ground, the other is power). The 6 wire cable is attached and ready to go. Also I finally got the cable glands to keep the cables in place and help keep the water out.
To add a light bar or other accessory all I need to do is route the power and ground wires into the relay box and connect them to the distribution blocks.
It got too dark so I'll have to instal it tomorrow.
I'll update the thread with some installed pics.

Criticizing JPi1 isn't making you look any better.
Why don't you realize that going from 6 switches to 3 switches won't necessarily reduce the price by 1/2?!

Here is my revised box
From the box there is a ground, power, and 6 wire cable (not shown in picture). When you want to connect a new accessory, like a light light bar, all you need to do is route the wire into the box and connect the power and ground to the distribution blocks.
The power wire leads to a 150 amp breaker, which then is attached to the battery. When the dealer complains that your aftermarket accessories are creating an issue, all you have to do is hit the breaker and everything is disconnected!
In the picture you can see the four relays and the ground post.
Under the panel on the other side of the box you can see the fuse block
In it's final position on a 2012-2014 JK.
The 07-11 JKs have their battery turned a different way so the wires will exit the box a little differently on them.
Here is my wife's dirty engine compartment on her 08. As you can see the power needs to come out if the left side of the box and the ground from the right.
The 6 wire cable that is fed to the driver's side a pillar will have 1 ground, 1 constant power and 4 wires to control up to 4 accessories.

I'm in the business of selling and installing high quality products such as the spod. It's not my invention, nor do I manufacture it. I am not in the business of assuming everyone is an electrical wizard and can fab up what the OP asked for, then blame me for causing an electrical fire in their new $40000 jeep. I simply offered a very well designed, functional part that can be installed in less than an hour. If you are talented enough to build one of these and don't mind taking on the liability, knock yourself out.

|RoninWylie||JPi1 perhaps instead of taking a defensive stance to the remarks about the S-Pod. You could offer some constrictive criticism to the manufacture of the item. They may realize they have another market segment to sell their product to. S-pod with 3 switches and half price is all I need. Telling me people like it and look to add a second does nothing to further My needs nor the OP's needs. If I were the owner of S-Pod and I read this thread I would be offering up a half size unit to fill the needs of the Jeepers who don't require the 6 switch, but would still like to purchase your product.|

I made it. I am actually getting ready to order the supplies to make my wife's jeep one too. This time though I found a plastic box instead of aluminum. The aluminum box is nice, but I don't want any chance of bridging the terminals on the battery.

Spod is far easier, and less expensive if your time is worth anything. Plus, all spod units are built with marine switches and components (top off in a rain storm) and with the new RCPM (remote controlled power module) you can control all your spod accessories with your smart phone!
And the spod has a specific place to mount the switches and Power Source on all JKs and TJ/LJs. It also will power down on its own if left on so your battery won't be dead if you forget to turn off any accessory!
Here's one in a '14 toy Tacoma we just installed.

This is what I came up with. I used a circuit breaker between the battery and the relay box. The power goes from the curcuit breaker to a fuse block in the relay box. Each relay is separately fused.
These are the outputs for whatever is being powered
This picture shows the fuse block. The yellow wires get connected to a 6 wire cable that runs to the switches.

|redneckwelder||The hardest part is making sure you use the right gauge of wire, and fuse everything properly to eliminate the chance of fire. You can tap into ignition power by using an add a circuit. Basic wiring, and lots of online sources for info it.|

I dont know about you guys, but i dont like spod. I dont like where they intend for it to be mounted and i dont like their price.
I havent finished my install yet but I found these switch boxes that are used in cop cars. I paid $100 for the switchbox, it has 5 20 amp switches with fuses, and one 40 amp switch with relay and circuit breaker. Mounts like a cb. Of course you can still connect it to relays... Of course you ought to connect it with a fuse closer to the battery. And sure, its a little more work, but is it really worth the extra $300 or so to not do that work?
