4Jeepn In order to remove the nut one needs a special tool. I picked this one at Pepboy's for about $15 . Notice the teeth on the end that will fit into the slots on the nut. There are 3 parts, the outer nut, a thin washer with tabs and then another nut.

Hub socket detail

Should turn without to much of an issue once you attach the rachet.

Total of 6 slots it fits into.

1st nut removed.

After the 1st one is removed you then remove a lock style washer, it has a keyway that it must be slipped by in order for it to be removed and give access to the 2nd nut.

Detail Lock washer and keyway.
Notice the dark brown grease that means time to repack the bearings and clean this mess up.

Just the lock washer

At this pont remove the 2nd nut and the the rotor and hub will slide off. This is heavy.

What is left should now look something like this:

More to come on my next day off.....stay tuned.

4Jeepn step 9. There are two Snap rings the bigger one and the little one on the axle shaft itself. I got some excellant advise from billavista offroad tech over on pirate4x4. Just use two screw drivers and take your time and they will come out.

Big snap ring

Little sanp ring

Next the internal part of the hub will slide out.

Step 10. Remove the axle nut...

This is where I have stopped for today. Tune in next time and see how far I get.

Tech: Warn Hubs/new wheel stud... Big pic's files.

This write up will be about how to remove a warn hub on a dana 60 and replace a wheel stud that decided it didn't want to have a lug nut go back on. Now on a TJ with stock dana 30's axle's this is for the most part a simple process and about the same on the 60, for someone who has torn one down before.. hence not I. Thus follow along and see how it go's. I will not pretend to know all the correct name's on this stuff. But will have a bunch of pic's.

Step 1. Full support your Jeep on jack stands so it will not go any where.

Step 2. Remove the Tire

Step 3. Look at what you have and wonder how it all come's apart.

Tire off looking at hub and rotor on Jeep.

Step 4. Remove Caliper

Step 5. Remove 6 hub bolts

Step 6. Show cool picture of back side of warn hub

Step 7. Remove silver screw so you can remove the gray gear thing.

Step 8.
Remove spring
