I didn't think to try Costco, but I did find that CarMax's location in LA (off the 405 in Inglewood) sells new Wranglers at prices none of the local dealers are coming close to, and we had a pretty good experience there as well. May be prices you can get at other dealers with a fair amount of haggling, but one local dealer (Norco) flat out told me their price was a lie and that he couldn't come within $3400 of their price without incentives like the Dodge lease loyalty discount, and another (Irvine) started about $7k above CarMax's price, and I didn't feel like spending 2-3 hours trying to move them from $32k to $25k.

1. You need to be a Costco Member (about $30 for a 1 year membership). Well worth the money for this deal alone.

2. go on Costco.com to the automotive services section (this can be accesses without a membership, but you will not be able see pricing)

3. Fill out the contact information form (Name, member #, phone, zip) and list the car/truck you are interested in. Within 24-48 hours you will receive a call from a local participating dealer with the deal. The deal is usually a standard discount plus incentives. Mine was (for the Wrangler Mountain Unlimited) $300 under dealer invoice plus $500 Mopar dollars and reduced interest rate financing. Plus and additional $50.00 Mopar dollar incentive from Costco.

I can't recommend this enough since the price was the price, saved me a ton of time haggling with the salesman and manager. Plus this discounting is extended to additional services like the extended warranty ($100 over dealer cost, which = 1/2 off list price).

According to Edmonds.com I save over $1,500.00 more off the sticker than the average Wrangler buyer for just going through Costo.com that took 2 minutes. Check it out next time you buy, you're not obligated to use it. My friend also used it to buy a new 2011 4Runner for $200 under dealer invoice (almost 4k under MSRP) plus incentives...hard deal to beat...
Again just like that tread lightly post, that is really a great deal also.I have been a member of Costco for years, and I thought there car purchasing program was bull. you can't epect more than that. No matter what car it is ,if you can get it at invoice ,you did well. I might try that next time.

The Great Escape II Also check with your credit union and see if they have a auto buying service. Mine was $1000 cheaper than any dealership in my area. When I showed the pricing with the options and VIN no dealer would accept the offer. The credit union delivered my vehicle on a flat bed truck to my house on the date and time I requested. If I did not like the vehicle they would just ship it back. The most painless transaction I have ever dealt with.

TOW69 I originally started out with this program until the dealership tried to pull a slick willy on me.

So I called yet anther dealership and got a stright forward internet price which was 6K below the original quoted price with the Costco auto program.

The bottom line is if you feel you got a good price that is all that matters.

either way we as the consumer are paying way to much for "everything" heck it is the American Way hahahhah.

One person said it that you can get the same or better price dealing with the dealership but it does give you a good starting point in price and what they are will to accept

InfernoGirl You can also get employee pricing through treadlightly.org, and they have other goodies for members too, $25 per year... It's nice that you passed along the info.

Marcus I used the Costco program when I bought my 2008 Corvette. Other than the $50 bonus I could have achieved the same outcome through the dealer I bought it from.

uslaguy For the record here, unlike some that seem to use this forum to sell stuff, I'm not. I'm a medical sales rep and don't care if people use this Costco thing or not, but I like to know about good deals, and I just wanted to share one that could save someone some money.
