JDsDream Welcome to the forum. Just relax and enjoy. There honestly is nothing else like a Wrangler.

Bobthegod I have 108,000 and the original clutch. Shoud last another 92,000....they are basically bullet proof. I didn't go with the cold air intake too many others say no real gain from them. California emmisions are the strictest for sure (I'm in California too) but if it aint broken don't fix it. When you bought it, it had to pass smog or you couldn't register it so if it passed....no worries. Also never heard of an oil cap stuck so bad...maybe the wrong one...or they never changed the oil and it fused to the filler....who knows...spend $10 and get a new one. It seems your a little nervous of the new Jeep.....relax they run and run and then they run some more. Just drive it it sounds fine and remember you'll never see a TJ waiting to run the 1/4 mile....then again you'll never see a funny car 4 wheelin. Take the top off maybe the doors too and have fun, that's most improtant thing. Oh yeah Welcome and post some pictures of it....everyone here loves pictures.

TerrorJ2001 I had the K&N on my XJ, i thought it was great. Me and my brother had a little race - since he had an 1 yr older XJ himself without the cold air intake. I felt a small power increase throughout most of the rpm range. Most of the power increased in the lower range. Needless to say, it makes the jeep faster. you only save fuel if you drive with the same habits without the intake. You definitely lose out on the price of the unit, but it was a fun little addition for me

DizzyD478 I beat my jeep for over three years now and haven't had to put a clutch in it... I killed the tranny pulled it off and my clutch disc, flywheel and pressure plate were fine. Putting a K&N cold air intake or something along those line will help your jeep breath better and make the air flow less restrictive it just depends on if you want to spend the money or not.

doclouie Welcome to the forum. Do a search on the cold air intake and you will probably see that it will not be worth the money. The engine is pretty maxed out just stock. An aftermarket muffler or cold air really will not help. I would go through and and change the fluids all the way around and think if you want to lift it or go bigger on tires. I will have to let other comment on the clutch as I drive an auto. You probably want to look at changing the plugs too. Here is a good thread on plugs. You will learn quickly to listen to Jerry. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/spar...-tj-55934.html

First Time Jeep Owner Qusetions

Just Purchased my first Jeep it's a 2004 Wrangler Sport with 79K miles. is there anything specific that usually needs to be repaired ,how long can you generally go before you need a new clutch?Traded in my 2000 Mazda Miata so it is quite a change I think I can grow to love going over things instead of going around them. I am the second owner it was a California vehicle ,is there anything different I should know about the California emissions?Seemes to run& shift real real smooth . Just changed the oil and the oil filler cap was stuck so bad had to use channel locks and alot of elbow greese to get it off any ideas why that may have been ?.I want to get a little more power is a cold air intake a good simple choice any recommendations on brands (had a K&N on my Miata and it made a lot of differecnce), any other easy bolt on items ya'll can recommend? Is the oil pressure gauge any indication of how strong the engine is what should it read?I Think I am in love again!

THANK YOU!

Tommy
