cherri SUCCESS! I finally got it to break free with the help of a lot of pb blaster and a chisel & 3lb. sledge. Lots of pounding and slight damage to steering knuckle, but nothing that will cause any further issues. Thanks to all for the help.

snwchris If you have access to air tools, then use an air chisel from the backside, should work like a charm... and hopefully the you already have the 3 bolts removed... LOL

flatline if you don't mind replacing the bearing. I just use a hammer and start tapping around the bearing. if it doesn't move I get a bigger hammer. I do this in the junk yard if all I want is the axle. could try some penetrating oil before hitting it, should help losen up the rust.once out I wire wheel the inside of the knuckle and apply anti-seize to surface.

Coyote_94YJ I would try and get a slide hammer on there and "give it all she's got." It's been a while since I pulled one so I don't remember exactly how the bolt configuration is on those but I do remember that it was a PITA to get off.

stuck hub bearing unit

I have a 98 TJ that has a bad u-joint that needs to be replaced. the hub bearing unit is stuck. I even tried the bolt trick on stu-olsen's site and nothing. I need some advise as I'm at my wits end and about ready to start cutting things with a sawzall. I'm already gonna have to replace the upper ball joint due to a bone headed move on my part. HELP!!!!:
