How to identify your 1989 Tranny? Peugeot or not to Peugeot?? That is the Question!

I just purchased a 1989 YJ with a 6cyl and manual tranny. To my dismay I learned that 89's possibly came with the pathetic Peugeot Tranny or the more durable AX15!!! Yikes!! Well upon some internet searching, I discovered an awesome site which describes in detail and pics the different trannys!! Upon comparing mine to the photo lineup, it is clear that I have the AX15. Now here is my question to you,,,,,,I have a tough time putting it into 1st or 2nd once it warms up a bit..Before committing to the dreaded synchro change, I want to change the fluid to see if it cures it. Which type of fluid is best for the AX15? I live in central Florida which has a very hot and humid climate if that matters. Thanks is advance for all your knowledge you are about to provide me!!
