VolForce actually I was very surprised, after putting my snorkel on my motor runs much better....I'm not gonna sit here and tell you I have more horsepower or better MPG's etc; however it is running smoother and does feel much more responsive.

I put my snorkel on for appearance and nothing more, but I am pleased with the results.

SardonicPadre hahahaha, that's like an SAT question.

'aerodynamics' goes together with 'wranglers' like 'polyester' and 'smoking'

yj-genral the only thing a snorkel could hinder you is with aerodynamics and lets face it... thats like throwing a hot dog down a hall way, not much effect at all...

Hilldweller The slower you go and the hotter it is outside and under your hood, the more a snorkel helps keep your HP static by providing cool air to your engine. When you're wheeling the temperatures in the engine bay skyrocket; snorkels are great for cleaner/dryer/cooler air.

daggo66 The snorkel shoul dhave no effect on engine performance, good or bad. If you do plan on any deep water crossings, make sure the the differential, transmission, and transfer case breather tubes have been extended. It's something that is often overlooked.

Snorkel Question

I am looking at a brand new '10 JKU Mountain, Dual Top, 35X12.50 Dunlop Mud Rovers, 3" Lift (not sure which company), re-geared to 5.13 (right around there) and has a Snorkel. My question is this: I don't plan on doing any offroading in the next two months or so, does the snorkel increase power, mpg etc... or does it decrease it. I know what a snorkel is and what it is for. But I don't want it on there for right now if it will decrease my performance any... I know its a JEEP, but still... TIA..

P.S I will try to get pictures next time I go to look at it.
