1BLKJP Folks gotta bump this one back into sight. Our last posting said it was at 16k on May 8th. Currently it's only up to 22k signatures. We need 50k out of this one. Please copy it to any other forums you visit and send it out to your club email lists. Let's have WF be a major supporter in reaching the goal of this petition.

Buster No. 16892 Keep it rollin gang.

Scout Also I'll add something to that. If you're active on another board(s) pm an admin or moderator and ask permission to post in a high traffic section. Sometimes if something like this is actually posted correctly it doesn't get enough visibilty. I did this over on ROF and it received more hits but I only did this after discussing it with the proper folks.

Oh, and another free bump for ya Jack.

1BLKJP Bump back to the top folks. The petition has about 16k signatures right now. We need everyone in the country to participate in this. If you believe in the right to access PUBLIC lands to recreate on then please sign your name.

Also pass this along to any other boards you frequent where you don't see it already. I can't hit them all.

1BLKJP No worries bro. The linkback software we use will post the actual title of the web page we type in. I didn't even notice that the site had it spelled wrong.

I am talking about formal or official communications. When a company sends out a letter or announcement and it has gross spelling errors they wind up looking unprofessional and incompetent. When you send a petition to a governing body trying to persuade them that you are group of responsible adults, the heading to that petition had better be spelled correctly. This is doubly important when using the internet for official communications as a way to separate yourself from the literally millions of anonymous people who have the manners and education of feral children. I apologize to everyone for hijacking this thread over what was really just my pet peeve about the spelling of loser (which again is not a typo, people actually think it is spelled l-o-o-s-e-r).
Ah understood, and in agreement that formal papers/petitions need to be checked and properly written.

Unfortunately, people do judge others intelligence because of insignificant stuff. When in a formal situation spelling and grammer needs to be correct especially when dealing with our government officials or presenting a petition. That I agree with. But to judge someones knowledge or intelligence by their spelling is a little over the top. A bit like the "Dumb Jock" or "your just a dumb Jarhead" I dealt with when I was in my late teens and early 20's.

MY opinion only and I hope I didn't offend anyone either.

Scout my siggy is spelled correct now also

Side bar. There is an educational initiative in the public schools in Little Rock to work with teens who cannot spell due to the use of text messaging. Seems that if all you read and send is abbreviated and "screen" language, it carries over when you write research papers and do your homework. Another example of "ain't technology wonderful?".

Oh it wasn't you that called it. But you are a good person also.

I quit making excuses for spelling and grammer a long time ago. My answer to most about MY spelling is "If you decide to hack me for my spelling and not get to know me, you are worth nothing to me and deserve no advice from my experiences".

Look Ma No therapist needed here, Just a a good night sleep needed.
Nuke was only venting and it was not directed at any Member, So i vented also.

Anyway lets not hijack this one, It is extremely important. We are loosing land every day to the people who think they know what everyone else needs. This is our Land and even if it does not affect a person directly where will it stop!!!!

I would like to make a suggestion to the drafters of this petition and everyone on the internet in general. In order to be taken seriously, especially by lawmakers or businessmen, you have to spell correctly, especially simple words. I see the example I am about to give all over the internet, and it is past the point of depressing me, it is actually bothering me on a psychological level now. Enough of my ranting, but here we go. The word LOST, specifically its various conjugations such as; LOSE, LOSER, LOSING, has only one "O" in it. Ever. Under no circumstances is it correct to use 2 "O's", unless you are trying to spell the word loose, which is the opposite of tight.

I hope this didn't come off as offensive to everyone, and I'm sure someone will want to pick apart any grammatical errors I have made, but I see this mistake so often; and more and more I am seeing it in official documentation, that I had to make a stand somewhere. It is not the same as making an honest mistake, people seem to think that it is the correct spelling.

FTNuke Speaking of keeping the land open, I am depending on all of you on the mainland to keep up the good fight. I would hate to be stuck on Hawaii (with our impressive collection of TWO offroad sites) for 3 years just to get back to the real world and find out that I can't go on a weekend trip without becoming a criminal.

You are so right, and I apologize. I am a victim of spell check, and the unfortunate part of it is, both spellings are correct. So it does not tell you, that it was used incorrectly, in the sentence. I am sure that is why you see it that way, so often.

Here is one of my pet peeves,
Axel, is a name, mine to be exact.
axle, is a part that holds your tires.
How many times do you see that misspelled, or misused?

I gave up trying to correct small errors in grammer. It just isn't worth the effort. As long as you can tell the jest of the article, thread, it's all good........... Can't sweat the little stuff in life.
