|91wranglerbase||Cool, so I wasn't far off that that was in fact some kind of breather/vent tube, just to the front end not tranny. Not a bad guess for a newbie like me. Thanks for the info!|

The hose in the last pic is your front axle vent tuby that is usually attached to the firewall between the cowl drain tube and the battery box.
As for the wires they are both ground wires and the larger one looks like the one from the block to the firewall and the other one should have been attached to the block with the bigger one.

It sounds like a bad fuel filter. Clogging fuel not getting to the Carb.

I am not sure about the vacuum line to nowhere, but have the same line in same area on my 91 4.0L. It might be a breather line to the trans? just a guess really.
As per the two wires with the eye terminals that you show in picture #1, I am pretty sure those are grounding wires. On my jeep I have these wires too, they were connected to the grounding stud that is on the 4.0 block on the passenger side. I'm not familiar with the 2.5L block but I bet there is a grounding stud somewhere on the passenger side. These might connect to that if its like the 4.0L. On our jeep these two wires lay on top of the negative cable that goes to the negative on the battery, all retained by a nut on the grounding stud. The stud on our jeep can be removed by a torx fitting, not sure the size as I was grabbing on size when we replaced all our cables this week. Try affixing both of those wires in picture one to the motor ground or chassis ground if your jeep doesn't have a motor grounding point.

|bigturbo||Well now the problem is worse. I had to replace my pass side fender today and afterwards now the car will not stay running unless I hold down the gas pedal. Plugs are good, IACV was replaced recently as well. I did find a couple of wires that are unplugged. One is solid thick black (by the pass side rear of motor) and the other is thin and black with a yellow stripe. Can anyone tell me where these go?? Also there is a vacuum line that is harnessed to the top of the battery tray and hooks to nothing. I took pictures of both|

|sevenservices||x2 start with consumables such as air filter, spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor. All designed to wear out and be replaced every 20-30,000 miles or so depending on the vehicle and environment that it is in. May also want to run some fuel injector cleaner and/or clean the Idle Air Controller. (IAC). Not sure how they work on the jeep but my sable and ranger have a EGR (exhaust gas recirculation valve) that does this same thing. Even at idle it would run up and down and up and down and up and down... If we pull 'em off and clean them really good with carb cleaner they smooth the engine right out. The carbon gets built up in there and causes all kinds of havoc.|

|flatline||back to basics. check fuel, bad gas causes this. tune up. check codes. Friends jeep doing this, told him to stop buying Cosco gas. I've had that problem using Vallero gas.|

|bigturbo||So, I had the exhaust repaired and it still dies when I am decelerating. The jeep idles ok but if I decelerate and let off the clutch around 1500 or lower it dies.|

91 Wrangler stalling issue
Hi guys. I just picked up a 91 2.5 5 speed YJ. It has 180k on it and 31s. Anyways it has an exhaust leak (muffler is broken) which I am going to get fixed today but when i was driving it home I noticed sometimes when I was decelerating and would push in the clutch the car would die. As soon as I started it again it would idle ok. If it didnt die the RPMs dipped down to about 300 before slowly climbing back to 800 and then idling ok again. Does anyone have an idea of this issue??
