Radio Antenna trouble.

I recently replaced the antenna on my 91 YJ with a replacement antenna from Crown Automotive.

Crown Automotive 82200683K - Radio Antenna Kit in Black for 76-95 Jeep® CJ Series & Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

The wire running from the head unit to the antenna doesn't seem to be connecting very well. the wire actually seems loose but there was no way to secure the wire to the antenna base, you just stick the wire in there and hope it holds. Any ideas?
