|yjkid95||Those chromoly shafts probably would be just as expensive as the 8.8. And when funds come up again you can upgrade the 8.8 to be even stronger.|

debating on axle swap and gearing.
Ok guys and gals, I have a 94 Yj with the 2.5 and 5 speed. Running 33s with stock 4.10 gears. I am debating on putting either 4.56s or 4.88s in it. I am looking for overall power gain and MPG if possible. it is a daily driver that isn't afraid of the trails. Mild to moderate trails (I like the rocks) and eventually when the jeep is built enough tackling more challenging trails. I am afraid that I will eat the dana 35 alive with the added torque of the new gears. I have researched the ford 8.8 alot and if funds allow would like to throw that under my YJ. I would do all the welding and gear setting myself (well, with free help from family) So does anybody have an estimate on what such a task would cost? I am debating on selling an old cherokee chief wide track I have sitting in the back yard. it would bring between $1000-1500, Do you think it would be possible to pull all this off with that amount of $$$?
