|adkjoe||I have a 4cyl. with 3.73 gears with a 6 spd. I also live in hill country. I lose ground going up hill but not bad at all. I still use 6th gear on the highway to, I will re-gear down the road but right now it doesn't bother me, try it I'm sure you will be fine.|

|svmtbman||I have 3.73 gears with 35" tires and a 4 speed auto. The gearing is pretty good if you turn the OD off and just use the 1:1 gearing in the 3rd speed. I'm at around 2650rpm at interstate speeds. I plan to go to 33" when I wear these tires out (installed by PO).|

|cavediverjc||I'm running that exact setup. I didn't want to regear because I knew I'd be getting rid of the stock front/rear differentials. We both have the auto/od. The stock 3.73 gears are by NO means ideal, but will work for what you're probably wanting it for. With our low first gear, I don't seem to notice any problems on the trail. Like I said, it's not ideal, but I don't have any problems running 70+ on the interstate. (Though it's not my daily driver anymore, so it rarely gets to see highway miles.)|

|jgorm||I ran that setup on my last jeep, but i had the 5 speed. I didn't use 5th under about 70 mph, but it worked just fine.|

|InfernoGirl||I have an auto with 3:07's, 33x12.5x15" Duratracs and steel wheels. I get up to 70 fine, hold it fine, have no real need to regear. I live in flat land and honestly it does loose ground going up hill, but not enough for me to justify the expense of regearing. Others will tell you I'm crazy... and tell you you'll hate it. My advice is to try it, and save up enough to regear if you feel it's needed... If you live with it fine then you have money for some other awesome mod....|

33's on a 6 cyl TJ auto with D35 & 3.73 regrets??
Ok I am down to the nubbin on my stock tires. Thought of going to 31 x 10.5 x 15 Goodyear DuraTracs as could use my existing wheels and not have to add any lift.
Then I got to thinking it might be the time to consider a lift. So I have my eye on one that would allow me to go to the same tire but in 33". This route will cause me to get new wheels with different back spacing.
My primary question is has anyone done this with a 6 cylinder (2006) TJ with auto tranny, D35 and 3.73 gears? How did it drive? This is my daily driver and I need to be get out there and run 70 mph. Is this just too much for the 3.73s?
Can anyone give me an idea what the cost to re-gear would be if I ended up and go this way and not like the end result?
