tiny terror Thanks for the link Jack. I'm going to have to give them a call. The serial doesn't match with any of the serials they have listed so I'm reading something wrong or not understanding what they're looking for.

1BLKJP Chris,

Here's the Warn page you need. It has everything you are looking for. Odds are you have a 12 volt version, but make sure you check based on serial numbers off your winch. 24 volt versions are going be way more intensive to install.

Yeah - Normally mounted on the top left... I don't see it

1BLKJP Chris there should be a control box for it that either attaches to the winch or can be mounted elsewhere.

You can probably also download the manual off of www.warn.com

Check Ebay for the winch control. Should be able to get one pretty cheap.

That's a great winch you got.

tiny terror He says it's missing the.... remote? Not sure. I'm going to call warn and get the instruction book to go with it and see what else I need.

DITTO Chris. Nice pickup. That's about a 700 dollar winch normally. You can use any winch plate that's drilled for a 10x4.5 bolt pattern.

I think it's a female thing, or maybe she just knows the right people. Networking is a good thing sometimes

erickpl How you manage to get all this free stuff???
05-10-2007 07:19 PM
tiny terror Hahahaha, actually I ended up talking to a guy from my father's woodworking class and I'm heading out to get a free slab roller and a kiln for my studio. The winch has got to wait until I have time and my buddy has time.

Man, it's been a good week.
05-10-2007 04:31 PM
1BLKJP Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, it's now 7 hours later. Do you have a winch yet?
05-10-2007 09:25 AM
tiny terror Thanks fellas and chick. I'm hoping to get a chance to go over and pick it up today some time. They have their kids in a million things so even though he lives down the street he's hard to catch. I'm hoping he tossed it in the back of his wife's pickup so she brings it this morning.

I'm not sure why he would have a winch laying around but he's got a tractor and welding equipment and just about everything else at his house, I wouldn't be surprised to find all sorts of stuff over there.

Coolio, spacers. I can do that
05-10-2007 09:01 AM
erickpl Or a much cheaper version from Harbor Freight for about $40.00. They have one for a Jeep TJ.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=3444

If your front end sags a bit, you can add 3/4" spacers to your front springs and be good to go.

One thing to keep in mind, if this winch is an 8274, the mounting pattern is DIFFERENT than any other winch, so you'd need a special mounting plate for it (or drill holes in your new mounting plate).
05-10-2007 12:59 AM
1BLKJP Assuming it is useable for you Tiny all you'd need is a 180 dollar warn TJ winch plate which will still allow you to use your front bumper. Nice score.
05-09-2007 06:28 PM
amy Hmmm... Cool! Thanks, Bill.
05-09-2007 06:21 PM
BILLG Amy You don't need to reinforce your bumper. The winch installs on a winch plate you bolt to the frame.Terror if your front end sags just replace the spacers in your lift with longer ones to compensate for the lift. They come in different lengths.Bill
05-09-2007 06:02 PM
4point It does not matter what type of winch it is, tiny you just need to let me try it out first. Wanna make sure it safe, I'll let you know if its any good.
05-09-2007 05:00 PM
amy Do you still have the stock bumpers?
I want a winch, too, but I need to either reinforce my stock bumpers or get something beefier to put the winch on.
05-09-2007 03:56 PM
Hackle Post up what it is here after you pick it up. We can then tell you if it will work or what it is worth in a trade so you do not get in over your head.

tiny terror I don't know yet. He's at work right now, so I'm going to get it tonight or tomorrow.
