Jerry Bransford I wouldn't worry about it if you have never changed the gear lube in your front axle before. When your axle is regeared, everything that could have produced those shavings will be replaced.

Differential help

So changing the diff fluid in my 98 tj I popped open the rear knuckle and it looked perfect then I popped the front and I noticed on the magnetic plug on the cover had shavings on it. Not thick peices but shavings. I used silicon spray to try an get all of it out. But when I wiped the inside the cover to check I looked at the oil on the towel and saw shiny speckles (shavings) . Should I be worried? P.s. The front gears don't look that bad. I plan on getting gears in near future to compensate for the upcoming 35s. I don't want to know gear ratios or anything like that I want to know if it's a major problem. I wheel it all the time and it works perfect
