Not this winter. I bought a 1973 Vette back in 93 and never did anything with it. Dad talked me into puling it out of the storage can and do a frame off. So the Jeep is going to have to wait till next winter. I'm fine with that sense the Jeep is drivable.
However next winter I not putting a V8 in it. I'm going the try a V6 turbo setup. I still want to change the 4.88's out for 4.56's and pull the seats out and redo them. But dads all about the Vette.
Here is what I bought.
This will be the finished car.
It should be done in may. Then it's back to the Jeep. To be honest I would rather be doing the Jeep.

|dave3687||so let me ask, are you doing the 350 this year? I would be interested to see how that comes out, mine is a 2.5 so I'm thinking about the 350 swap.|
|02-18-2012 10:08 AM|
We had fun building it.

|dave3687||hi guys, I know I'm late, but I just bought my very first jeep. I got a 95 but unfortunately it's not in as good a shape as your 94, frame is rusted but otherwise in good shape. My son and I are fixing it and doing so other mods but not a frame off like yours. The only reason I'm commenting at this point is I just read through the entire thread and was totally amazed, the jeep looks absolutely increadible!!!! any just wanted to tell you what a great job you did!|

It's bad you don't live closer. I'm pulling my 4" springs out and going back to stock springs with a SOA setup this year.

|bwilburn||I been off the site for a while and I must say. It looks better every time I come back and check it out. Awsome work. This summer has been busy for me. Not much time to do any work to mine. I want those exact rims and tires. Do you think they would work with a 2.5 suspension lift with a 2 inch body lift? btw whish i would have went with more of a suspension lift and skipped the body lift.|

|MarkNog||Wooooow, read this whole thing and my jeep could only dream of meeting you.... I wish I was around for the build, could have learned so much. One day when my jeep gets older and wallet gets a lil thicker, I plan on doing a ground up too.|

I painted the top with a gloss black and put in an additive that takes the shine out of the paint, but keeps it from looking like flat black. That way when the sun hits it, it doesn't look ridiculous, it just keeps a nice black look.
Sense your ride is drivable. If you run out of weather to shoot your top your welcome to come down the garage and shoot it.
What color are you doing the top?
Rummer is true. The Vetts coming in to the garage in two weeks. I'm doing a frame up AGAIN and get it ready for spring. I'm going to give it to dad to use as long as he wants. But with that said I have some things I need to change on the Jeep, so he better be ready to work and be leave me I'm sure he is. So we have plenty to keep us busy.

|hitstick8||awesome work...not a big fan of blue..but you made it look nice|

Top and doors look good. I like the painted door handles. We didn't paint ours and they look a little crappy. I'll have to shoot with some black later. We have to finish cleaning up our hardtop and paint in the next couple of weeks...cold weather is on its way soon. Did you spray the black satin or gloss on the top? I'm trying to figure a headliner to quiet the ride a little for the winter. Glad to hear your Dad is still enjoying the project. Rummer has it he is talking about rebuilding your old Vette this winter!
What is your schedule the next couple weekends? I still have to meet up with you to bend that tubing for the bumper.

Riding around in a jeep with the top off is lots of fun and the way it should be.
That looks good, really good with the hardtop and doors on it.
I love the fact that your dad needs the jeep for a few days.

Had a real busy weekend, but I managed to get the doors painted. Well at least the out side. The inside is still in prime. Didn't seem to bother dad though. He needs the Jeep today and tomorrow. I'll paint the inside during the week and order some panels.
Couple of pics for ya.
Sorry I couldn't get a good shot of the drivers side in the garage and I was running late.
Hard top and hard doors take all the fun out of cruising around. Glad it's not my DD.

|tz97wrangler||I'm also doing a lot of high speed driving speed limit here is 65 but I your not doing 80 your getting passed.. But I also do a lot of trails and some of the trails have steep climbs too so Im not sure where to go with the gearing.. I'm planning on keeping the 31.5 s for now until I put a bigger lift on it.. Currently I'm able to keep my jeep about 65-70 in 4th gear but if I shift into 5th and go up any kind of an incline it slows down to 50 unless I down shift to 4th so gas milage is roughly around 10 on the highway|
|09-22-2011 12:53 PM|
Keep in mind I'm running a 4.0
I had 3.07's, at 70-75mph I think I was around 2200rpm with a stock jeep getting 18mpg.
I went to 4.88's on 33/12.5's. I get 17.9 around town. I get 15.8 to 16 on the highway with plenty of power. Keep in mind I normally run 80 on the highway and the rpm's are up around 3000 to 3300. I do allot of highway driving so this doesn't work for me. I'm going to put in a set of 4.56's just to drop the rpm's. This will help on the highway, but I'll loose some in around town. If I can average 17 I'll be happy.
Your running a 2.5 which is a good motor. Especially geared correctly.
You need to consider your driving habits. That's going to influence what gears to run.
Where do you do most of your driving, around town or highway or is it 50/50?
How much wheeling do you do and what kind of wheeling, trails or climbing?
Also are you going back to 33's? That will make a big difference on deciding what to run.

|tz97wrangler||What size gears should I use in my 97 tj? It's got the 2.5 with a 5 speed .. 4" lift with 31.5 / 12.5/15s super swamper tsl boggers. I believe it has the stock 411 but not sure.. The guy I bought it from had 33s on it and had to downshift to 3rd gear to maintain 45-50 mph so I dropped down to 31.5s.. It does better but not happy with where its at.. Any advice would be useful|
