hard top cracking at inside support plates

A few days ago I made a set of 3/16" SS backing plates but can't get the bolts through from the outside because the nuts are attached inside the wall of the top. I was planning to just thru-bolt from the outside and seal the new plates under the brackets. Best laid plans...
Looks like I'll go w/ the epoxy. Thanks!

hannahuffster You could take those brackets off then laminate the top (inside and out) with some like 1/8" stainless (or regular steel painted to match) plate steel. Bolted through the top with like 4 or 6 small carriage bolts and lock nuts. Then reattach the window shock brackets...

just a thought...

hardtop cracking at inside support plates

Just replaced the pair of liftgate support pistons and noticed the fiberglass breaking around the inside support plates on both sides (L/R) of the hardtop. Anybody know of a good method to repair the affected areas (please see pics). I was thinking fiberglass but didn't know if anyone else had a better (stronger) idea. I guess this is the result of driving around with the back window open on a '93. Thanks for any comments and have a safe and happy holiday!
