It hit the receiver hitch on it, so nothing was damaged on the Explorer, but now my front bumper has a massive square dent in it. Now comes the fun part My brother said he would pay for a new bumper under $150, but I haven't found anything that I like in that price range. I'm willing to spend some of my own money because I was already kind of looking at front bumpers before this. All I want is something strong and simple. The Jeep is completely stock, so I don't want anything massive or obnoxious. Any suggestions? Thanks

ConnorE Thanks for all of the input, everyone. I'm going to sleep on it over the weekend, but I'm leaning towards getting the Smittybilt SRC Classic. I rarely take her offroad, so I'm just going to stick with something simple for now. It's a good price too. I'm a little strapped for cash right now.

how hard was it to put those fenders on, and are they worth it
Those are MCE fenders

Modern Classic Enterprises

And installation is very little more then removing the stock fender flares. drawing up the lines and then cutting fender to install the ABS MCE fenders. Use an angle grinder and the job is a piece of cake. Just take your time cutting, then file it down and you're set. They're absolutely amazing. I hate Mike every time he post pics of his TJ cause they look awesome and I can't afford them YET! But they're cheap $180 (may be on sale check!)

Rubicon2 The Warn front bumper is nice and simple. For reference I sold my front and rear bumpers together for $50 bucks, so you can find a nice used stocker for next to nothing.

X2, best idea yet. I got mine on ebay too. I got the Smittybilt XRC bumper for 250+40 shipped. Had a low speed collision last year and it only scratched the paint.

Also I still have my stocker, and I couldn't sell it for 20. Now the price is free and I still have it.

edman87k5 Buy a piece of 4" angle iron and drill the 4 holes to mount it, then you will have a solid foundation for anything you decide to do later. I built my bumper and it is based on a section of 4" angle.

Mike_3303 Agreed, when something breaks replace it with something better. save the money and buy a decent bumper. i got mine from amazon and had free shipping which saves you a lot because of the weight.

MoA i wouldnt recommend getting the one with the d-ring loops.. they arent welded through the bumper.. meaning one good pull and they will rip off..

but my ex ran a procomp rear bumper.. they werent bad for the price

the smittybuilt ones.. (yes they have one very similar to the procomp one your looking at for the same price) has their loops welded through the bumper.. meaning both on the face that shows and the backside

Neil F. Stock replacements are on ebay for 50.00 +/- all the time and the for sale section of this forum and other Jeep forums dirt cheap. Here is a low cost front alternative. JEEP FRONT BUMPER FOR WRANGLER TJ YJ CJ ROCK CRAWLER - eBay (item 280594540871 end time Dec-25-10 08:09:21 PST)

Six Gun Matt Or check this out: Jeep Wrangler TJ LJ Front Bumper | TJ LJ Front Trail Stinger | Poison Spyder Customs

Not a full coverage bumper, but if you are getting $150, you will only have to pony up another $45.
12-16-2010 03:03 PM
Six Gun Matt How much are stock replacements from the dealership? Search craigslist for a front replacement, with lots of people always swapping out the stock one for others, it makes them easy to find. I actually have one sitting on the side of my house, but I am not shipping it to FL.

never replace stock parts.. you'll spend half of what itd cost for a NICE front bumper from somewhere else

trust me ive learned the hard way when i was 16 years old

save up and get a nice aftermarket one.. nothing wrong with havin a stock jeep with a nice front bumper on it

heck you can get a procomp bumper for like 100-150 bucks.. smittybuilt has some decent ones too ranging from 100-200$

i like this one.. for the price.. its made by smittybuilt and runs $200
