robbiecc i went through this when i 1st got my jeep. had the puck on the window and the mirror was loose-soon found out why, didn't quite fit the puck. tried fileing the puck down(didn't miss by much) and opening the bracket a little. ended up buying a new mirror at AZ for like $10 or so. mirror came complete with glue, but guy at AZ (friend) said it won't hold and i'd be back in a day for the different glue. he was off by a day, lasted 2 days. the new glue worked great, but make sure you know exactly where you want it and put it on the right way. this stuff cures in no time(seconds) and you ain't moving it. did mine while waiting in a parking lot for the guy i bought my soft top from-been 4 months or so and still there. love to know how to remove them-yes i have 2 on there now but can only see em from the outside and have to be looking hard(hidden by the mirror)
seperate glue is a few $$ and comes with a moist towelett to clean glass and pket of glue-just clean and attach-but get it right as once it's on, it's on.

1995JeepWrangler This is the one thing duct tape will not hold! I've had the same problem in the past. I think Jerry has it right, buy the kit, clean the windshield and don't use too much. Worked for me.

TexasT I went through the same routine doing it myself and finally took it to an auto glass and windshield replacement place. 5 bucks and it's lasted for years.

Atthehop Glue for rear view mirrors are special. If it's not specifically for it it will not hold up.

Jerry Bransford Sometimes the superglue that comes in the mirror attach kits at the auto parts store fails to hold for one surprising reason... too much superglue was applied.

My wife's mirror kept falling off when her car was still new so I tried gluing it on several times but it fell off within a few days every time. I glued it back on one last time the morning I was taking it in to her dealer for some other reason. I barely had any superglue left so I didn't apply much at all. I was thinking it was barely hanging on. I pulled into the service driveway and told the Service Writer that the mirror kept falling off and proceeded to give it a mild push expecting it to fall off. It didn't. After 2-3 more attempts and one obviously/laughably hard push to make my point and prove that it was falling off, it finally snapped off... looking more like I strong-armed it to make it snap off. The Service Advisor must have thought I was nutso.

abw0004 My mirror fell off about a year ago and I tried every glue. None of them worked, they lasted at most 3 weeks. I eventually went to the dealership and it stuck. The glue was like 10 times stronger than super glue or something. i hope this helps!

1998 TJ Sahara rear-view mirror: how does it attach to the windshield??

HELP!

So, I have a bare windshield, and no way to see behind me. I have the mirror, and I have the little metal "thingy" that the mirror attaches to with a small screw. BUT... how does all this get secured to the windshield???

I'm in a bit of an awkward spot right now - the State will not give me a "passed safety inspection" sticker until the mirror is there (I have 60 days, and then I turn into a pumpkin).

I'm all ears now...

Regards,
- Bob -
