|Tang87||According to this link T18 & T19 Transmission Packages it says that it will work with the 258 and they have the adapter to do it....My 258 isn't an older one it is from 87..|

Read this Adapting Ford Transmissions to AMC Engines - Novak Conversions Based on your year, the t18 may not be adaptable to your bell housing.
I'm really not the guy with the answers on this. But the topic is of interest to me because i am looking at similar swaps when my BA10/5 bites the dust or any other reason that causes me to pull the transmission. I certainly wont be putting the same one back in.

|Tang87||Does that mean I would just need a longer drive shaft? Yeah at least you got the 88...my year is impossible! lol I kinda like having 5th though....but for $50 extra it would be much better than the stupid BA 10/5 lol|

The Borg-Warner T18 & T19 Transmissions - Novak Conversions
Looks like Novak makes the adapters for the motor as well as your t-case. You would lose 5th gear but gain a low 1st gear. It is shorter so you would need driveline work done. Shifter placement would change as well.

Fuel injected 258 and Ford T-18 Tranny?
I have been browsing craigslist for a motor recently, and came across a fuel injection conversion 258 and the guy said he would throw in a Ford T-18 transmission for like $50 extra. I have the terrible BA 10/5 so I figured this would be a nice upgrade, but need to know how much extra I will have to do to get it to fit into my rig. Anyone have any experience with this transmission? I'm new to modifying to this extent. I just put a water pump on my Jeep last night and that was frustrating, but rewarding when I finished lol. My friend has a shop I would be taking it to with all the necessary tools to pull and drop in a motor. Any input will be helpful!
